Down trodden programs success

rocket city poke

Cignetti just won the Big 10 at Indiana. Indiana had the most losses of ANY program in FBS before he took the job, it was largely considered the second worst job in the Big10 after Northwestern. The MWC was so bad this year, that New Mexico just captured a share of the MWC championship. New Mexico is considered the worst performing program in the MWC historically. This Chris Murray of the Reno paper came up with this points system showing this:

As much as Burman and Sawvel lament the portal and NIL, it has actually CREATED opportunities for some downtrodden programs within their leagues when they work with it.

A hell of a salary progression for Curt Cignetti:
2007, Bama WR coach, $170,000
2009, Bama WR coach, $200,000
2010, Bama WR coach, $250,000
2011, IUP HC, $125,000
2022, JMU HC, $425,000
2023, JMU HC, $677,000
2024, Indiana HC, $4.5 million
2025, Indiana HC, $11.6 million

In 2024, Wyoming paid Jay $1.1 million. Sure, we probably couldn't have gotten Curt for that price tag, but to see these dumpster fire programs turn around, and ours go from competitive to a dumpster fire is so damn depressing.
