So, I'm playing rec coed soccer in the People's Republic, and it's been a great experience all season long. That is, until last night when I stepped in on our company's second team for their league finals game after they were missing a couple of guys. We played a team made up solely of CU and CSU players who shouldn't have been in this league to begin with.
Obviously, with a bunch of slightly out-of-shape 30-50 year olds with office jobs, there was only one way this game could go. Apart from running up the score, though, their players were pretty nice - aside from their main forward, a scholarship sheep. Several times he was trashtalking our very out-of-shape stand-in sweeper, and even more so after he got stopped (who the hell starts trashtalking when they fail?). I may have made a couple of hockey checks (last second planted my feet in the path of the ball, shoulder to his chest) on him along the sideline after he started that, though sadly, he only ate it once, and the ref called it (though somehow I didn't get carded - probably because he was sick of them too). My only consolation is that he's feeling it today.
Anyway, just venting about sheep. Hope they lose a lot this season, in all sports.
