Do you think we'll work on third down conversions and

student body left in the bye week?

Just got back to God's Country from Laramie and must say I am more hopeful about our team's chances after yesterday.

The negatives:

1. We are small on the d-line. We can't stop student body left or right. We need to get that fixed.
2. If you've got a team in 3rd and 13 maybe you shouldn't get passive and play prevent defense like we did against Bowling Green. Maybe you should attack. Just saying.

The positives:

1. Brett Smith is a better qb than ACS is right now.
2. We've got a lot of talent on our team in the freshman and sophomore classes.
3. The offense looks like we can move the ball on anyone.
4. I think we're going bowling if we continue to improve every week.
5. The state support is really starting to build in this program. With an eight win season attendance is going to sky-rocket.

All in all, I'm happy with the current state of Wyoming football. We've been rebuilding for a long time, but now it seems to be paying off.

Overall, I like where it's going. Defensive coordinator wise, not so much. Still not convinced.

Also, more size along the D-line would be awesome. Any news on good sized d-line recruits?

Well, I think one bit of the good news is that Puletasi is only a redshirt freshman, so he should hit about 260-270 or so, which is good size for a DE. Purcell should sit at 285 by next season (his senior year) if he keeps adding the way he has, and Taufa'asau could be at 290. Mertens sits at 270 as a Sophomore, so who knows how much he could add...

For recruits, though, there really isn't much information yet...

Miraldo Michel is back. He's a bigger guy. Mertens is lost for the season, but will be back next year.

There's light at the end of the tunnel. We only graduate guys with d-end builds this season. All of our d tackle built guys will be back next year. Next season we should be closer to having that problem fixed, but for the rest of this season we're going to have a hard time stopping student body left with our d-ends lined up in the middle and linebackers at d-end.
