divisions

how does everyone want the divisions to be lined up now that there are 12 in the mwc?
I kinda hope for this:
Wyo, sheep, New Mexico ,air force, Vegas, and San Diego

Boise, Utah st, Hawaii, San Jose, Fresno, Nevada

I'll just put what I think they will be:

East:
Wyo, CSU, UNM, AF, Utah State, UNLV

West:
Boise St, Hawaii, SJSU, FSU, UNR, SDSU

Based upon Boise's desire to be in the West.

Thompson just stated moments ago that no divisions have been set yet. The Presidents will meet Monday.

Also said he would like to have the pacific time zone teams in one and the mountain time zone teams in the other.

Thinking more:

East:
Wyo, CSU, UNM, AF, Utah State, BSU

West:
UNLV, Hawaii, SJSU, FSU, UNR, SDSU

Interesting. The East would certainly be the more difficult of the two I would think--BSU, USU, AFA, hopefully WYO could be good and challenge for the division but who the hell knows--if the past is any indication we are due for a good season. I would think the West would be weaker by comparison. I know SJSU was good last season but can they continue to improve under a new head coach? Fresno seems to be the leader of that division, at least to me, followed by SJSU and then maybe UNR or SDSU.

Add BeWyEwes to the West and UTEP to the West and Houston and SMU to the East and substitute Gonzaga for Hawaii in basketball and you have yourself a nice little conference

Strange and distressing to think of Wyoming as "East". Maybe they can give non-geographical names to the divisions.

For the MWC technically we are an east team, East and West isn't bad but I would prefer some other designation than directions.

I agree with wyokie, being that we are the Mountain West Conf.... Mountain and Western Divisions make the most sense to me.

Whatever. For the last few years I have hated conferences with divisions.
Round robins are the best.
Whatever ya do, don't do anythang that makes no sense.

I'm glad no one has said the Cowboys and Indians. That would only confuse me on which ones are the leaders and which ones are the legends.

Mountain and Western are good.
Maybe the Left and the Right.
The Gold and the Silver.
The Diamond and the Emerald.
The Blue and the Gold.
The Bold and the Beautiful. Sounds familiar.......
The oh don't say that one................
The We left you once before and We wanted to get back together.
There are so many more possibilities.

Legends and Lizards division?

Have and Have Nots division

Betsy yet,

Super and Duper divisions

West Division
1 Fresno State Bulldogs
2 Hawaii Rainbow Worriors (Football Only)
3 Nevada Wolf Pack
4 Nevada-Las Vegas Runnin' Rebals
5 San Diego State Aztecs
6 San Jose State Spartans
Mountain Division
1 Air Force Acadmey Falcons
2 Bosie State Broncos
3 Colorado State Rams
4 New Mexico Lobos
5 Utah State Aggies
6 Wyoming Cowboys

The only bad thing, if you can call it bad, with an East-West division separation, is that the Eastern teams play all their conference games against other cold-weather opponents, while the West teams bask in the sun. Maybe there could be an North-South alignment without removing some of the obvious rivalry games.
