Babers looks like a good hire to me.
Who is he? Today is the first time in my life I've heard his name, and I follow college ball pretty well. How good of a hire could he be?
Look him up if you want to know. He is considered one of the best up and coming coaches out there, and it is only a matter of time before he goes to FBS.
So lower division bullshit. Right, so I'm not allowed to be disappointed in that why, exactly?
A ton of coaches start in lower divisions, Chip Kelly, Jim Tressel, Urban Myer, you name it. Just because some don't work out doesn't mean they all don't. Stop being so bitter and watch how it all plays out before saying this hire will be horrible.

Exactly. Today they were talking about the various high school teams that Auburn's coach was at before he got a shot at the big time. And by all accounts, the SEC's Auburn Tigers are the big time. Everyone starts somewhere and climbs the ladder. If all is going well, we are one of the rungs on that ladder.

Frankly, we are in a sad spot where the AD had to fire the coach but there really isn't anyone out there that looks as good on paper as our last hire did.

No coach in America is going to make a lateral move to coach in Laramie.

No FBS coach at a team more successful than us will coach in Laramie.

I don't know what you want, BrewPoke...we are going to hire someone "below" us. No one else will take it. Unless, of course, they failed at a level "above" us.
Your post epitomizes the problems recently outlined here:

You seem to be telling me that we should be happy always being an also ran, because, aw shucks, we're just little ol' Wyoming.
He seems to be more of a realist, give most quality coaches the choice between (insert school here) and Wyoming, most would say the other place, for one reason or another. There's not a ton of people that would really pick Laramie over similar jobs in warmer places, or bigger cities, etc
"We're just little ol' Wyoming, and we're just glad to be here. Don't worry, we're not going to try to be the best."
Who would you be happy with? I haven't seen you throw any names out there, just say how you don't want...well anyone mentioned.
So now you want to know? Done denigrating my opinion?
I've been highest on Tedford from the get go. Any successful MAC coach would have also been acceptable to me. A position coach or assistant in the NFL who had previously been an FBS coach I'd have been cool with, too.
