Did you watch the Craig Bohl presser?

You need better athletes to run the spread than you do to run the power game. Bohl does not run a power game he runs a west coast passing offense with a power running game. They are a very balanced offense and nothing like Glenn. It is easier to run power with less talent because a lot of it is a mindset and being tougher than the opponent and wanting to beat them.

I'm curious and not bashing here; genuinely interested. Are there other examples of successful smaller FBS programs that run a west coast offense? Which of the bigger programs do?

I'm not sure I agree with the run power thing; greater strength and speed on defense trumps desire all day every day.

SDSU's offense is built to do nothing but powerrun. Even when they throw, its to set up the run. And other than their first year or two, they've had winning seasons ever since.

The idea of a spread offense is to put your athletes into space and get them one on one with a defender and rely on individual athletic ability to be better than the other guy. Power is all about discipline and having a toughness about your team. Some teams that run it are Stanford, Michigan State, obviously NDSU, CSU, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and others. It is more of a balanced offense that he runs, very much a pro set like you see in the NFL not just a power run game, he just emphasizes the run because he thinks it is important. A good way to get a feel for how we will play is to watch NDSU on Saturday at 11 on ESPN.

And "The Cup" just lost me there. Well said Dino -Amen.

Definitely will watch. I've watched a lot of west coast O in the NFL and that is more of what I was basing things on. In the NFL at least, you must get the run started to have a successful west coast O. After that, play action, quick hits, etc. work well. A good Offense if the run-pass rhythm get going.

Imagine my disappointment.

Can we please keep the religious lecturing and proselytizing off of sports message boards? Is that too much to ask? You can do it going door to door and in your church and with bumper stickers on your car and when I check out at the grocery store and with flyers that get put on my car at Wal-Mart and every time I go to a funeral but, please, can't we keep the sports message boards clear of it?

Is nothing sacred anymore?

That seems to be his idea of offense to a T. I think he will run multiple looks, probably slightly more shotgun than he does at NDSU next year due to our current roster.

I think we already have the players for this style of offense, Starting with Smith & Wick I just really wish we had one more year of Tedder because he would have really been a staple for a power run offense.
