Did I miss something? - Marty English

Is there an official word that Marty English is no longer defensive coordinator? What happened to the 'imminent' new contract for Christensen?

If there is, it has not been reported by Gags (who seems most in the know of the reporters), but DC DID sign a new contract, we just don't know the details yet (at least, I don't).
 
I don't think he has signed yet. Last I heard, they were still trying to "get everyone together", but they had agreed in principal.
 
The mere fact that this deal isn't done...should be eye opening for some WyoNation / UW fans.

I don't like it.

I feel for Marty a bit unless he said "I can't hack it" and asked to be LB coach. Can't imagine him staying around too long. As for Tormey, I'm good as long as the two polynesians come with! heard a lot shit talking about him on gowyogo, but I think that was from that tool known as Packerpoke.

edit. looking at his resume, he doesn't have a lot of DC experience either. I think marty has as much experience as he does at being a DC.

Holy shit. That explains...nothing.

As I said before, I am not impressed with Tormey. Bad part is, he will come in, and get credit...when it largely is not his to get.

I would expect that English will be moving on...

I guess it is most eye-opening for me. Tormey, replacing English. Maybe that is why there was the "contract" hold-up. DC strong-armed Burman to afford Tormey (and to keep English on board), and Burman (with forced hand), made it happen.

Wonder how those athletic department budget cuts are going now? :lol:
 
Tormey was pretty bad at Hawaii. His secondaries were terrible, and the players didn't like him. Puzzling hire. The guy has been everywhere.
 
I was very critical of English at DC, but he is a kick-ass linebacker coach. Great move for UW. Go back to the days of yester year with the defense revolving around our linebackers.
 
Pretty odd for a guy to go back to being a position coach. That tells me that perhaps English not only accepted this, but may have requested it. I'm happy to see him stick around. And I dont think DC would have hired Tormey if he didnt think he could get the job done.
 
Is it possible that since we lost our recruiting coordinator to Missouri that DC looked at English and said I really need you at the recruiting coordinator job. Will you do that?

Coordinators are too busy to also be coordinating recruiting
