It would have been easier and you wouldn't have made yourself look like a CSU Grad if you just asked a Mod to lock this thread because that is all your stupid flaming is going to cause.

Can a mod get rid of this person?
Yeah. There's a difference between what we've been saying, and this troll. Although we criticize Cooke, we want him to get better, for him to work on the things he struggles at so that he doesn't struggle so much in the future. What this troll does is insult him as an adolescent spoiled brat would.

He has been tweeting a few times about Wyonation.

I think WyoNation gets so much publicity and focus because it is 1 of 2 boards that get Wyo talk.
I can't imagine being a football player at Florida right now after that 4-8 season and losing to an FCS school while Florida State won the BCS Title.

Fans on here are die-hards. Were fans before certain players got here, and will be fans after they leave.

Student athletes should not be checking these boards.
They check to see what is being said about them, and it's either going to be good or bad.
If it's good, they are already hearing it from everyone on their twitter and on campus (example...Derek Cookes nasty Top 10 Dunk...everyone was loving him for that).
If it's bad, it's just going to be REALLY bad to read it.
This is literally, the only place to talk Wyo sports...so of course things are going to be blown out of proportion.

Don't read it, and if you do, don't take it personally.

Hell, remember when people though Brett Smith wasn't good enough to be a D1 QB on here?
This is what this website is for...talking sports. If you play sports for Wyo, you will be talked about, good and bad. It happens.
Don't come to the shark tank and complain about the sharks.

I agree with everything Wyo2dal said.
I also agree on the free throw shooting and the hands. Also I think it would help if the entire team went and worked out with the football team. A lot of the better players in the NCAA Tourney were said to have worked out with the football strength trainers. It can't hurt. We are at 7220. No reason we shouldn't be able to boat race people with conditioning

I'm with DC.

I've said forever that this forum is unnecessarily negative far too often. (and no, that doesn't mean I think we should "settle for mediocrity" nor that we should all be "sunshine pumpers", so don't even say it  )

It's possible to criticize and disagree constructively and positively, give it a shot. In non-internet life, I get so much more out of people when I pay attention to the way I present my ideas instead of going with what I initially want to blurt out.

We are all guilty of being peckerheads on here, and trust me, it doesn't help a thing.

It is kind of like marriage counseling, you can be critical of a person, meaning talking about their actions without getting personal and attacking their character. People might talk about his free throw shooting while not talking about his character. I respect DC as I do all of the young men and women that are working towards having a better life by getting a good education and I have heard nothing but good things about him personally. But that doesn't mean that I won't critique his play on the court sometimes. I understand with DC that it can be personal because he cares so much about it. In all honesty, I have read stuff at other schools that is way more nasty and personal than the stuff I read here. My take is that DC needs to get a little thicker skin and realize that everyone here wants DC to succeed, and they feel the disappointment greatly when the team doesn't succeed. On the other hand, people on here, me included need to be more careful in the way that we discuss the players sometimes.

I like the fact that he's got passion for wanting to get better and that some of what is written is taken to heart. Fans are just that and fanatic at times, but that means we want to matter once in awhile and although I tweet him positive things about the next game and such, I look for great improvement for him over the summer and he'll be a factor to helping us try to win a MWC championship for a change next year. I'm to the point where I might shut down my account for another year until we get closer to football season, I'll be monitoring from time to time and might chime in from time to time but lets hope Spring ball is good and that we have an exciting season next year under a new coaching staff and Larry comes back better than ever!!! GO POKES,

Agreed - Good Post. I didn't see any personal attacks toward DC - just some fact stating and banter.

Count me as one of the people that agree with Cooke.

Cooke and Grabua bust their asses for UW, to have a bunch of Wyoming fans criticize them because of weaknesses to their games. It's not like those guys are bench players, they're starters. They're the best guys Shyatt could get to Wyoming so far.

People need to be a bit more considerate when players are working their asses off for UW. If the kid is a head case/problem child, that's always in trouble, that's one thing. When a kid represents UW with class, that's a totally different animal.

That won't stop the army of arm chair quarterbacks that will continue to trash our athletes. Those people will continue to dump their frustrations on the board with negative posts about 18-24 year old men that are working their asses off to represent Wyoming with class.

So as fans, we see them doing more damage than good on the court and were supposed to smile and accept it because they work hard? No one is criticizing their work ethic or how much time they dedicate. Fans criticize because the results don't equal how much (DC specifically) talks about his game. If you have the stones to go on twitter and tell us how dedicated you are and how much you're working you better not have a 50% free throw average. And frankly it's unacceptable for a person who for the majority of the year was in the top 5 in three point percentage to have 24 points in March AND 0 of those in the two post season games. To be upset as fans is absolutely justifiable. If we can't be upset with underperforming than what can we be upset with? Uniforms only I guess...

I see both sides. I agree they are the one's busting their asses, but I also paid 15k for a college degree and now spend over a thousand a year supporting the school. Paid my own way for books, etc. Sooo...it is a two edged sword. In a way, I am paying for the product on the field, court, whatever. Players SHOULD bust their ass by default, because I am helping pay for it.

Players are young men and I try not to criticize personally. However, criticism of work and results never hurt anyone. My supervisor constructively criticizes me every day. Why? Because it makes me better. Cowboy up people.

"I am the one busting my ass for the school..."

Well, yeah, as you should be. And I am the one paying for it. I dont throw that on twitter.
