Yeah. He got kicked off. He didn't quit. I have way more respect for him than the quitters. Big difference in my mind.

Our starting D-line is outweighed by about 20 pounds on average compared with NIU's line. Most of this in the NG position. Granderson is outweighed by 37 pounds (they have a D-end that weighs 270), but we know Granderson is very fast. I don't know anything about their guy, but I'll take Granderson's speed over 37 pounds anyday. Our D-tackle and one D-end are nearly identical. Seems to me the key here is if Chase can play above his weight.

Interestingly, if we went with our back-up NG, the Dlines would be very close in size (Malauulu weighs 301, +33 pounds). NIU's back-ups are smaller than the starters in general so they will see a drop-off in size as they sub, while we'll generally see an increase in size.

The offensive lines are identical.

Linebackers are identical.

Seems to me the size differentials we saw last year have shrunk dramatically.

We are definitely catching up on the size thing, but I still question the depth, when NIU lists 2 "Or's" at each position on the O-Line it seems to me that they're going to be able to keep fresh bodies out there. That's my biggest worry, is that we can hang for a half and our gassed 2's are going against their fresh 3's by the end of the 3rd quarter. Now, a lot can change, and a coach can tweak the depth chart to kick upperclassmen in the ass a bit and show them their spot isn't guaranteed, but if they really have 3 solid guys at each o-line position they're gonna grind the hell out of us. I'm just not quite sold on us dominating a whole game just yet. It may be pessimistic, but I need to see change before I can stop thinking about that.

All that being said, anyone can look good on paper, that's why they play the game.
