So it looks like Sullivan will take a redshirt this year and I noticed no Schober on the 2 deep, other than that no real surprises.

Besides Schober (is he still recovering?), the two things that stick out are Jake Jones beating out Zach Rushing and the true freshman guard (Roullier) as a backup.

Schober, Reese, Kankolongo out this week with injuries. Sratton and BJ Hendrix out for year. Also Nathan Sobee from the basketball team had his appendix taken out this weekend but was in school today. Wish him a quick recovery.

Surprising to see Rushing, Luke Anderson and Ghaali Muhammad at #2. Promising, however, that these young guys are coming in and taking positions. Hopefully it is a testament that DC and Co are putting the best guys on the field and seniority doesn't trump that.

With that being said, I feel for Ghaali. He seemed like he worked his tail off and injuries have just plagued him. I actually didn't mind him at RB. He ran hard. Just too bad the switch and injuries came later in his tenture here.

Also surprising to see Anderson listed as the backup strong safety, with no nickel back position on the chart.

Is Trent Sewell going to redshirt? I thought he was good enough to play right away. Someone has to fill that tall physical WR role Doctson vacated.

The lack of size on the D-Line is still worrisome. Microscope is on them this weekend.

Not sure where you see our lack of size on the D-line?

Defensive Ends:
Miraldo Michel (6-3, 265)
Sonny Puletasi (6-3, 241)
vs.
Jackson Jeffcoat (6-5, 245)
Alex Okafor(6-4.5, 265)

Defensive Tackles:
Mike Purcell (6-3, 303)
Kurt Taufa’asau (6-2, 284)
vs.
Chris Whaley (6-3, 292)
Brandon Moore (6-5, 320)

Not saying that they are equal talent-wise, but size-wise we aren't as small as you think we are.

As far as offensive lines go, Texas' o-line averages 305.6lbs and our o-line averages 295. Size wise, we match up pretty well on both lines with Texas.

This is one of our biggest lines in recently years, I know that most people think Texas is going to steam roll us but this game will be anchored on turnovers not just the run. If we pick up where we left off last season being top 5 at creating turnovers we have a much better shot at winning then people realize.

Main problem I see is we lost a lot of people that were able to create those turn overs as well, This is definitely time for the new players to step up we need pickup where we left off creating turnovers at every opportunity.

On the flip side, I think the advanced stats dudes for football will tell you that turnover numbers are largely a function of luck - I expect regression to the mean in that department this season. Question is, has the team improved enough to win games where the ball doesn't bounce our way TO-wise.

I agree to point definitely but I watched all last seasons games all off season and there were definitely hits where players made plays on the balls and it wasn't just a luck occurrence. Of course by no means would I call all TO's planned but they certainly weren't all luck and I agree we need to be able to win but creating TO's is part of a strong defense it's not just luck.

I agree that you create your own luck to some degree, but I also think we can't expect to finish this season +12 in TO margin. I'd accept an even TO margin in exchange for a significant improvement in the embarrassing 232 yds/game we yielded on the ground last season.

+1 agreed 100% tackling early before a 5+ yard gain is always a weak spot and it has improve this season.

Another point to consider is that if they open up the playbook a little more the offense will probably have more turnovers but more points. If we can manage to stay in the positive it will be good.
