Dean Easton steps down

Buchanon was a seat warmer and a down right terrible president. Im glad the new guy is making changes. I also enjoy that the good ole boy network is getting riled up because he is threatening to change the status quo. Its about time they start living in the 21st century.

Couldn't agree more!

+1 here as well, nice to see him want to change things and make us better both academically as well as athletically.

Not only was the process flawed (he was force-added to the list of candidates by the academic community - his department specific academic community) - but when that happened, every other candidate on the list bailed out. UW had no choice but to put him in charge or be the laughing stock of all the land.

That fiasco was the most embarrassing debacle I experienced as an expatriated alumnus. The news headlines that were attached to the AP stories published elsewhere made UW look cloistered, naive, or both.

I didn't attend the law school in Laramie, but I am interested to see how this plays out. The law school is often a high profile program that attracts casual attention to a university. I have seen other schools that look to Law School Deans as candidates for the University Presidency without resort to the popular uprising that placed Buchanon in Old Main.

The legislature and governor of the State of Wyoming are going to run the University of Wyoming into the ground. This is where the problem is.

Could possibly be worse: Look who runs Colorado State University: The Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Video from law school "Town Hall" meeting yesterday. Our leaders seriously look unprofessional.

I read some Tweets from the town hall meeting yesterday.. Dean Easton isn't going quietly into the night and challenged Sternberg to some sort of law school trial.. he politely declined and walked out.

Whose idea was it to record everything on its side? Seriously.

I have talked to quite a few people and it sounds like the Board of Trustees may get together and vote to fire him. Remember these are the same people who HIRED him. People don't want the good ole boys club to be blown up. It's a fucking joke.
One of the people I talked to said that Sternberg is trying too hard to bring UW into the 21st century and we just don't want that.
Are you kidding me?
If they fire Sternberg within a couple months of hiring him, I will be so embarrassed to be a UW supporter. In terms of athletics and academics I would be embarrassed.
If they did indeed fire Sternberg because he wants to bring Wyoming into the 21st century, do you know how big of a joke the University of Wyoming will be to the rest of the academic community in the rest of the United States?
It would be basically mapped out like this:
Wyoming hires a new president.
New president comes in and make a bunch of changes.
Good ole boys club gets shaken up, new president gets fired for being too progressive and trying too hard to bring UW into 21st century and build successful athletics and academic programs.

Are you kidding me?
Who will want to come be the president at UW then? Another member of the good ole boys club? Burman???

Anyone else feeling frustrated with our University right now?

Yes, feeling VERY frustrated about it. Sternberg is just trying to improve the university the best way he can. But some people are getting their panties in a twist about it and throwing a hissy fit.

That was very frustrating to watch. Frustrating to watch Easton attempt to hi-jack the meeting. Frustrating to watch Sternberg pussy-foot and avoid answering any question that anyone wanted answered.

Whoever the guy was who said he simply just wanted to hear both sides of the story is spot on. I don't know hardly anything as to what is actually going on here, I can't take sides just yet.

Wow....that was a complete debacle. Hard to be confident about any Wyoming Athletics when "those" people are in charge. Egotistic City.

That was a very disturbing video to watch, on both sides. I do not know the whole story so I can't say what went on between Easton and Sternberg, but it appears to me that people are very upset over someone trying to change anything at this university. I have liked what Sternberg has done and how he is striving for us to become one of the better schools academically and athletically that we can ever be. I don't understand the hate for hiring an outside consultant to review various aspects of the university because that gets a third party perspective on what we do right, and areas where we can improve ourselves. Also it is like Sternberg said, that doesn't mean they must implement every suggestion that is for the task forces to decide. I also have to say that if the rumor that BP said about the board of trustees meeting about potentially removing Sternberg they would be getting some strong letters of disappointment from me. I would be embarrassed to call myself a current student at this university if the board fires a president that is 3 months into his tenure, and all because they don't like how he is trying to push us forward into becoming a better university as a whole.

I agree. Not knowing the fully story, I can't take any sides at this point either. However, as a law school alum, the whole thing is embarrassing. Makes our school look like a joke.

You would think an expert in psychology would be able to motivate and provide constructive criticism without leaving a wake of destruction in his path, that's kinda where my head is at right now.
