DC suspended & fined

He wasn't degrading the military though, he was degrading an asshat of a HC.
Agreed, but that's beside the point. Its simple public relations....no matter how you slice it, dropping F-bomb after F-bomb at the head football coach of a service academy on "Military Appreciation Night" will not only be the butt of every joke for college fans this week, but just doesn't look good for the University. Wyoming is not well-known. At the end of 2012, the only thing the average fan will be able to recall about Wyoming is, "Their coach went ape shit on that guy from Air Force!" Some think that's cool, others (like boosters) will not. That is not good for the all important image.

What is compounding the problem x 100 is the military twist. No matter how much you "know" the whole context of calhoun being an A hole, it doesnt matter. Degrading the military is always looked down upon. This will follow him around like a dark cloud forever. Even if Calhoun comes out and "accepts his apology" it wont matter.

Exactly. That is the problem with this situation. Let's say for the sake of argument that Calhoun did tell his player to lay down on the field and fake the injury (whether it is true or not doesn't matter) so then as someone who doesn't watch football or even someone who does all you see is the youtube video of the way Christensen responding to it with the way the media twists and turns things what are you going to think?

It is very bad publicity. Even if Christensen had a right to act the way he did he should have handled it differently. It just doesn't look good no matter which way you try to spin it.

Dude, I totally agree. Maybe I worded that wrong. But the PRECEPTION is not towards the coach.

I think dc questions his ethics without the expletives and leaves the flyboy comments and such, this is old news. But the perception and military appreciation day spin on this just sucks.for dc.

I do feel bad for dc. This blow up wasn't about that play. It's a culmination of shots to the nuts all year. This did him in.

J-Rod...the relationship was already past being strained. Way past. And basically has always been, well, at least when the ink dried.
Did not know that. This will be an interesting next few months.

This era of social media changes things drastically. 10-20 years ago, no way is some person there waiting with a camera to catch all of that commotion. Taking the politically-correct route gets tougher with every passing day.....

Just thinking out loud, want to hear all your thoughts.....

Do you think CDC could leave Laramie after this season on his own? Meaning resign? You have to think this situation may strain the relationship between Burman and CDC.

He won't leave without a big payout in hand. He knows he is now non-hireable and would be lucky to get even a coordinator job at the FBS level.

Can you believe this season?
Talk about being 180 degrees from what we expected. I think most of us expected to be 6-1 or 5-2 at this point. Instead we're talking about firing our head coach because we can't win close games. (Which boiled over on military appreciation night) Crazy turnaround.

Nobody could have seen this coming. This past off-season, there was talk of MWC title, 10+ wins, possible surprise BCS run....hell, I saw some saying 6-6 or 7-5 would be a disappointing season. From the Cal Poly loss to CDC's rant, this season is living on planet bizarro.

No, it makes me sick and I don't want to think about it. Wyoming Cowboy football has been set so far back. I think of Wallwork to Harris and envisioned similar games this year. Coming to the realization that we will be a bad team in a watered down Mountain West truly hurts.

Non-hireable? What the hell are you smoking? He could get a job in a BCS conference as an O-coordinator again, easy.
Head coach? No.

And what is crap that their relationship is past strained? Where is this info coming from?

honestly, I don't want to believe this season has even happened. I am so emotionally invested in this team right now I am about ready to blow.

Yes, he is NON-HIREABLE at this point in time and likely for the next 2 years or so. Regardless of his ability to recruit talented players and run an offense, no FBS school will take the PR hit at this point in time. We understand why he went off on Calhoun; however, the rest of the nation sees it as a coach degrading the military (and no AD is going to put his reputation on the line to bring him in).

We're not doing so good at winning the not close games either.

The info is coming from me. And the relationship between Burman & DC has been nasty since day one. And that Beav, is a fact...not a rumor, not an opinion.

How is that a fact? That is my point.

Here lemme say something, DC and Burman have a great relationship. Now that it comes from me it is a fact.

After re-reading the language Burman used at the press conference, I think the University may be looking to end the contract with DC. The suspension gives time to work out the details and offer DC a resignation alternative. I doubt DC would ever accept the resignation alternative offered.
