Diaz did good at all of his schools he coached at except for Texas. For some reason at Texas he wasn't able to get them where they needed to be.

Maybe he is better coaching defense at a smaller school like Wyoming just like he did at Middle Tennessee St. as opposed to a place like Texas.

Sounds like Christensen is scrambling to try and get it fixed as soon as possible which I have to give him credit for. He must be on a short leash and have to win x amount of games or he is gone. Must be the reason for the urgency.

Will be a miracle if he pulls off getting bowl eligible this year with our remaining games but stranger things have happened.

DC had the whole winter and spring to reach out to someone to fix his defense....he's the one who chose to stick with Tormey. Now that the ship is taking on water like the Titanic, he's throwing out life rings in the hopes someone will come in and save his ass. Sorry, but he should have pulled the trigger on Tormey at the end of 2012. DC's ass is so puckered right now you couldn't drive a nail up his anus with a sixteen pound sledge hammer.

No, but somebody should try. Anything to get it loosened up to drain out some of the stuff he is full of.

Diaz didn't exactly have a great team to work with.. Texas just simply hasn't been good. Though, firing Diaz seems to have lit a fire under Texas.

I was gonna say dude.....The Longhorn defense has looked like an elite group since he got canned and Robinson took over.

Not trying to defend DC here, but were would the money have come from to pay Tormey for the second full year of his 2 year contract and hire a new coordinator? Just curious.

I think you have a point - but that mindset needs to change at UW. I hate the "money" excuses that the current administration frequently uses when they have no other leg to stand on.

OK then what would your fix be? You gonna write the check?

I really think it comes down to a chicken-egg situation. Build it and it will come. Kind of like what CSewe has going with their new on campus stadium. Have some vision. Go out on a limb. Sell it. I think the blue hairs (largely & loosely stated) in the state need to realize that athletics truly are the front porch of Wyoming - and follow the models of Boise State & Utah.

On the check thing, I certainly give what I can justify & make happen (and that holds true to everything we donate to). And although I don't want to be chastised by certain posters here for saying it...I will anyway...the financial donations the family has made to UW (entire system) are significant.

Respect. I'm just trying to say that there is only so much money in the budget. Until we can find a few more sugar daddy's like the McMurry,s Rochelle,s ect we will always be limited with doing certain things. One thing Wyoming residents need to do is elect more Cowboy fans to office and have them loosen the state's purse strings. Of coarse I'm a out of stater bitching about Wyoming state funding for athletics so it don't mean squat...not my tax dollars.

I couldn't agree more. And personally have been preaching that concept / thought for a long - long time. Not everyone agrees though, and especially the bulk of the academic community. What they fail to see - is that successful athletic programs makes the entire University system a winner. Higher salaries, larger staff, higher attendance, additional accredited programs at all levels, the continuation of facility improvement on all fronts, infrastructure growth and stabilization, etc., etc. It is a risk not many are willing to take. Uber conservatism.

I hope this helps out. It doesn't have to be the greatest improvements in defense. Just enough to win out. 3 tough games ahead. Losing to SJSU and CSU really screwed us (TXST as well).

Manny Diaz would be a huge addition to our football team, he has shown he can be a successful DC at two of his three stops, MTSU and Mississippi State. He didn't do well at Texas, but that whole program has been in a downward spiral (until the last couple weeks). I would love to have Diaz come help the defense out, couldn't do any more harm right?

BeaverPoke for Governor?

Hell yeah!!!

Out of 90 people who serve in the Wyoming State Legislature, only 33 (37%) have ties to UW (spent time there, or graduated from). It is no wonder it is difficult to get funding for the athletic program when 57 out of 90 people probably haven't even set foot in a classroom at the university, let alone the stadium. It might be time to have a few more fans of Wyoming athletics run for office.

And I am happy to support BeaverPoke for whatever office he would like to pursue. Hell, I might even move back just so I can vote for him.
