CSU -3.5

I get that. When I read what some of these high profile names like Carson Beck received in NIL, its insane. Frankly, it's more than he would get in the NFL. I don't expect to get a Ferrari with a Kia budget. And frankly, I'm shocked Sims came back for another year of this. I just hope the kid can stay injury free if he does end up playing.
Yeah, NIL is insane right now. Look at QB Malachi Nelson. He was a 5-star recruit out of high school. The amount of money he has made in college football despite being pretty bad is almost unbelievable.

1) Went to USC on a $1 million NIL deal and didn't see the field at all. Transferred to Boise State after one season.

2) Was reported to get a $500k-$750k NIL deal at Boise State. Lost out to walk-on Maddux Madsen and only played in mop-up time in blowout wins in his one season there.

3) Transferred to UTEP for a reported $250k-$350k NIL deal. Started 5 games before being benched because of his poor play.

4) Transferred to Syracuse. Not much info out there on NIL deal but estimates are around $250-$300k. He is competing for the back-up spot. Senior QB Angeli has been named starter.

Here is a guy that has started 5 games in three full seasons. When he did play, he wasn't very impressive. Yet schools are still throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at the guy based on what? His high school film? It's just bonkers to me.

I think Hughes's running ability is a game changer this year. If Kaden could have ran for even 3 yards without falling down or Sims would have stayed healthy, we would have been a lot more competitive and probably went to a bowl game last year with wins over Air force and Nevada. I think we could have beat Colorado and given Utah all that they wanted as well. We forget that it was 3 to 0 at halftime for Utah and they were playing man to man the entire game. If our QB had any ability to run and an OC that could recognize the coverage and call something accordingly, we could have given them fits all day. I am excited and drinking all the Koolaid right now. haha I just think we were closer to 6 wins than we remember. I actually think the team has talent on the defensive side and they just need a QB with an ability to get a first down on 3rd and 3 with his legs if needed.

I rewatched the 1987 Iowa game last night and there are a couple of games from the early 1990's on youtube as well. I just kept thinking there isn't a lot of difference between the teams we have right now and these teams. They are built like the team we have now except every time we have a good team we have a QB that is tough as nails. Burnett was wearing arm pads as a QB. haha it was awesome. He was so gritty in that 1987 Holiday bowl. I hope that is what Hughes brings to our team this year.

Kaden is a reason why kids need to play multiple sports and not focus on a sole sport. Even if he sucked at track it would have helped his garbage running mechanics. His center of gravity may as well been on the moon
