Not much to chew on, hopefully the report was much more detailed than this with better feedback.

Not much in there really....it just states what everyone on this board has been saying for quit some time. We know there are challenges to recruiting because of our geographic location, we understand that Wyoming is the only D1 program in our state, we realize that people have to drive long distances to get to a game, and we understand that the AD must have higher expectations. So what? How do we fix the problem?

Glaringly obvious - that most of us could have told Sterny (from 4 years ago) - we need a new AD, and a house cleaning to go with it. Complete house cleaning.

As I mentioned before many times, we don't need a Wyoming guy that knows the culture, we need a go-getter visionary that can change our current shitty culture!

Basically they are saying:

1 - Cowboy up, and stop whining about your challenges. Git 'er done.

2 - Get yourselves organized

If I were the AD, I'd be very nervous about this report. The knife was inserted very smoothly, but you notice it after enough blood is lost.

Actually I think there is more in this report than some of you seem to think. The whole "good enough is good enough" attitude with accepting mediocrity is actually a pretty big deal with there being a new president and all.

With the new President seeming to be proactive there could be some people getting let go with attitudes like that.

Whatever you believe you can accomplish in life you're right. If you don't believe you can do something or get something done you're right as it won't happen and if you believe you can set a goal and make it happen and get it done then it will happen with the right amount of time and effort put into it.

With the attitude of accepting mediocrity from it seems "so many" in the athletic department I won't be surprised if some people are let go.

I agree with the enormity of this report. Yeah, we've been saying some of the mentioned in the report on here for years…but that's where it stayed. Now, it's out in the open. Our biggest complaint has officially been identified, by an outside source, and is sitting in everyone's lap.

Far too often UW and it's fan (a lot of us on here) have had the "good enough" and "it's hard and there's nothing I can do about it" attitude. We've been lamenting on the past. (We used to be good….no, we were decent, but a bowl 20 years ago and a NC 50 years ago does not a long history of winning make) We need to start living in the now and plan for the future. What happened, happened…next.

a. Athletics spending increases – UW 22%, MWC avg. 51%, FBS avg. 58%
b. Institutional increased spending on athletics (per athlete) – UW 21%, MWC avg. 84%, FBS avg. 73%
c. Football expenditure increases – UW 37%, MWC avg. 48%, FBS avg. 75%
d. Football coaching salaries (per football player) - UW 20%, MWC avg. 50%, FBS avg. 74%

I guess the FBS increases aren't surprising, but UW compared to the MWC average sure is. Where is the average MWC school getting the additional funding from that UW isn't?

From people who care?
Like the fans, and donors, and state governments?

This IMO is the biggest and most important finding, Something we have known forever and something finally being pointed out publicly.

LEADERSHIP & ADMINISTRATION

OBSERVATION: It is not a secret that UW has real challenges that influence competitiveness in
athletics. However, there appears to be an attitude that UW Athletics’ has simply accepted this as the
reality of today’s world instead of focusing on improvement.

b. Institutional increased spending on athletics (per athlete) – UW 21%, MWC avg. 84%, FBS avg. 73%

Like we have been saying forever the administration settles for mediocrity but it didn't matter what we said, Now it should matter. If this President is serious this is going to be a wide eye opener but now it's very important for him to do something about it and not just ignore it.

This PDF is a very good read but the best part about it, These are things we have been saying as fans on the forums for a long time now it's finally out there and the AD is getting a huge helping of this is what I get for excepting mediocrity.

I really hope something is done and it's not just ignored.

I wouldn't even call us "mediocre."

One outright conference title in any sport in the history of the MWC is not mediocre. Mediocre implies average. The average MWC team over that span has multiple conference titles in multiple sports.

Like the report says- the problem is the culture.

Changing institutional culture is the hardest thing to do vis a vis the interested parties. Feelings will be hurt and "fans" will be lost. I guarantee it...

I'd call that prima facie evidence of the cultural issue...

How could Tom "WE ARE WHO WE ARE" Burman strongly disagree with that assessment when it was directed at him?

He is covering his ass.

He is fired unless we win out I think.

He is on a shorter leash than DC.

Which is scary. He might make some bad decisions here shortly.
