Critiquing Tom Burman

I will say this, I believe he gets too much heat from a lot of people on this message board, that's just my feeling...I'm hoping this next hire by TB will be a home run, obviously.

Lets not forget, the decision to retain or fire DC was his and his alone - and he pulled the trigger almost as soon as the Utah State game was over.

Riddle me this - if he lands Craig Bohl as the next Wyoming head coach, will that change some opinions around here?

I hope he puts together a commitee to do it - like he did with Shyatt. They need to find a few friends of the university - coaches, people who know football, people who know how to win in Wyoming, and start the interview process. Let burman hire based upon their recommendations.

No, there are bigger and better candidates out there. The question is has Burman already made up his mind? Based on past hires, he already had done so and the interview/search process will only be a façade.

#1 on that list...Joe Tiller.
#2 Joe Legerski (if his schedule permits)

No. If he lands Petrino, I will request UW have him (Burman) blood tested though. As I think he would have been abducted by aliens...as he is not that good, nor that smart, nor that hard working.

I agree with that list. Hell, ask Joe Glenn what his opinion is as well. He didn't win, but he certainly understands the publicity of the position.

At the end of the day, its all about selecting the right person, and looking to our past may help us in the future. I wouldn't be against getting Dave Christensen's opinion (if he would provide it) either (we don't have to act upon it - but he may have good points).

Not sold on Bohl- smacks too much of Glen. There's too much FBS head-coaching talent out there.

That being said, I think the right thing for Burman to do would be to appoint a respected search committee of 3-5 people to establish hiring criteria, conduct interviews, and recommend a final candidate or candidates to Burman.

What is the underlying reason for the single "n"? Just curious - I know you are too long in the tooth to continually miss it.

Not known to any of us (as of yet?) is if Burman will appoint an outside agency (like many universities do) to line up candidates and handle a pre-screening process before shuffling them into Laramie for an official interview.

It's a bit of a word joke, kind of like my asterisk following the acronym for that so-called university named after a murderous misogynist. A glen is a shallow valley- pretty, comfortable, and friendly, but otherwise useless in context of competition.

Burman is Captain Mediocre, I guess good enough is good enough. Want proof? He gives contact extensions for New Mexico Bowls & CBI tournaments.

Here's your answer on how Tommy is going to select the next coach. And it isn't pretty.

The only way I will have faith in Burman, is IF Wyo hoops wins a MWC title in the next couple seasons, and if we hire Tedford, and Tedford works.

No. At least, not until he would hypothetically win for a few years. That'd be a lackluster hiring.

How long has Tom been at Wyoming? He'll tell you himself he knows what he needs to be successful. He thinks that amount is between 3 and 4 million a year to increase the budget. If that's the case, then it's pretty obvious he doesn't have the ability to secure the tools that he needs to be successful. To me, that looks like he isn't capable of doing the job.

If he can somehow fix our financial problems then I could overlook the Schroyer hire and the stupid contract extensions.

I just don't have any faith he's going to get that done.
