I'm more than excited about this recruiting class so far.
We're lookin at 4 defensive ends, 2 offensive tackles, 2 linebackers, 1 WR, and 1 TE.
-One of the DE's (Nick Williams from Highlands Ranch, CO)held offers from the likes of ASU and Kansas and chose WYO.
-One of the tackles that we picked up (Kyle Magnuson from Elkhart, IN) has the size to play as a freshman at 6-6.5 303 lbs
-With the linebackers we've picked up, I think Marboe may have to bulk up a little more from his 190lb frame. The SLB we got from Iowa,Ben Durbin (6'2 219 lbs), may be the gem in this draft class. Thus far Durbin racked up 104 tackles, eight sacks, and 19 tackles for a loss during a junior season in which he received All-State, All-Mid Iowa, and All-District honors.
-The TE we got (Matt Birkeness from Littleton, CO) has good size at 6'4 220lbs. As a junior he averaged 20 yds/catch.
-The WR that we got (Justin Morgan from Chicago, Il) is yet another player hailing from Mt. Carmel HS. Last year we snagged two of his teammates in Keith Lewis (projected starter at corner next year and already on special teams) and Mark Oliver (a RS Frosh LB who will also see time next year). Morgan is as tall as the Tight End we got at 6'4 and 190lbs.
I'd be lieing if I said that i wasn't extremely impressed with this class thus far. I'm really hoping we land the 3 star safety prospect from Denver (ranked as the 45th best S in the nation) after seeing what happened to us against UNM. We're also at near one of the top schools for this beastly 3 start MLB from Indiana, ranked nationally 22nd at his position.
When it comes to next years kicker, we picked up a late recruit from last year right around when school started. Hailing from Virginia, he wasn't sure till the very end where he wanted to go (UW or UVA). I'm not sure how good he is but I'm assuming he could be kicking for the job next year. Right now we're not looking at any kickers that I'm aware of. If we got a transfer it would've been better to have gotten one last year so they could sit out this season and kick next season.
