Is this going to be the worst recruiting class of the past 10-15 years? I think there is a chance.
We will never have a highly touted class. Bohl will recruit guys with toughness and the willingness to be a team player and a good work ethic. We may not get the best athlete, but all we need is the guy that is a good fit for Bohl and his system. I trust Bohl and I think he will do fine, this class may not be great due to the short time span, but he will make the most out of any player that he brings in.

I don't know if I trust him or not but I don't have a choice! The man earned his shot and I'm down with whatever he's doing....for now.
I don't know how it will translate to the FBS level, but he steamrolled nearly every team he came across this last year.

The fact that the majority of players being offered lack a single other FBS offer is highly concerning to me. I'll give Bohl a pass this year given the circumstances, but I hope to see a drastic change in the level of player being recruited next year. If Bohl thinks the top level FCS talent can compete when facing FBS teams on a weekly basis, he is sorely mistaken. It's one thing to use the "David vs. Goliath" mentality to knock off 1 or 2 FBS teams a year, but it will be completely different facing that level of team every single week. TCU and Utah are perfect examples. They didn't magically get dramatically worse when they left the MWC, but the grind of the Big 12 and PAC 12 conference schedule has proven to be a difficult task for teams who routinely knocked off the big boys in once a year bowl games.

Grittiness and toughness is great, but that alone isn't going to be enough to walk out of Boise or Fresno or San Diego with a W in hand. People seem to act like toughness and talent are mutually exclusive. Why can't Bohl recruit tough players who are talented as well? I'm not expecting him to land 4 and 5 star recruits, but some players that at least one other FBS staff deems worthy of a scholarship offer would be nice.

I was worried that this would be the route we took in recruiting..... Hopefully it's just because it was bad timing. Bohl really should have not coached the bison in the play offs.....

Long term i think it will pay off for boel. He showed that his student athletes are that important to him and that will be something he can stand by with future recruits.

I agree. Bohl's "above the line" statement makes me feel better about his recruiting strategy than Glenn's "there are more FBS players than scholarships available" statements but the current recruits are not filling me with great hope. Guess the staff gets a pass for this year but next year I want to see us out recruiting some of our peer institutions for some kids.

Not sure why everyone is bagging on Bohl already. He hasn't even coached a practice yet and there is a tone of negativity that is alarming. He built a team in NDSU that could walk into a lot of FBS stadiums and win. Obviously he knows how to recruit for his system. Why don't we let his players play a season or two before we deem this the worst class in the history of Wyoming football....

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it will work and maybe it won't, but we owe him a chance to try to right this program.

Agreed.....I have been worried myself but got shot down with "NDSU is a better team than WYO"

Hopefully it works out just jaded! Really thought DC would have succeeded.....

:twocents:

Hell, the players he recruited at NDSU were good enough to get 17 points in the final AP poll of the season. If he continues to recruit the exact same players and coach them up the exact same and get us in the Top 30 within a few seasons...I call that pretty damn successful. Now if he gets even better recruits with the same coaching....[insert BeaverPoke-sized dream here].

Where do Bohl's Florida connections come from?

AJ cooper goes to Florida Even though Arizona is where he played.

I don't foresee bohl going after Florida kids, but theres always a few that drop through the net.

REMEMBER bohl loves taking a 2star guy tell him no one wanted him and motivating him to prove the others wrong.....oh and TACKLE on defense!

You all seem to be forgetting that we have a pretty talent team remaining. Imagine our team this year with a coaching staff.... We'll much improved next season. He'll find a QB that fits his system and we'll move forward.

3 star recruits don't sign with losing programs in a mid-major conference regardless of the coach and especially when there is a recent coaching change. Give Bohl time to change the atmosphere in this program back to a tough, hard-nosed, kick the shit outta ya, kind of program that is winning 75% of its games and the 3* recruits will follow.

Admittedly, his toughest job is going getting to that level with the current talent and what he can scrap together this year. That may be tough, but I am drinking the Kool Aid and I think he will get it done.

Agree...we will be much improved, and much more competitive, IMO.

I'm ecstatic Bohl was the hire, but I am among those concerned about the talent level being recruited. I know it's hard to get 3 star athletes to Laramie, but I just think back to Glenn's recruits, when it always said, "Also recruited by: Northern Colorado, Chadron State, Cheeseburger University." That didn't work out so well. I know the staff is behind the eight ball this year, but I hope the recruiting gets stronger in the coming years.

With the limited time he had to put a recruiting class together the level of recruits this year doesn't surprise me at all. I'm going to give the new staff a pass this season and see how their first true class is next year.

wasn't our Defense during that period the best we've seen in the last 10 years? The players on the D side of the ball were good enough. Glenn struggled on the O side of the ball. We have a lot of horses (except OG and OT) on that side of the ball to start with. Also, his third national championship on three years and he fact that he was hired at the end of the season handicaps him in his ability to find the obviously decent guys, forcing him to have to go after the under the radar type guys. This will also probably be his worst recruiting class here, in terms of going out and getting the higher rated players. He has said as much during his interviews...sometime before the story of him farting and breaking in his new office.
