As the week went on rumors and speculation grew that University of Wyoming sophomore starting quarterback Brett Smith wouldn't play Saturday against Air Force.
The official word came about two hours prior to kickoff via coach Dave Christensen's Twitter account.
"Brett Smith is unable to play today. Come support (true freshman) Jason Thompson on his first start as a Wyoming Cowboy," it said.
