Cowboys in Colorado Summary of today's event

"The Cowboys in Colorado (CIC) breakfast was held at Johnson's Corner and is smack dab in CSU's backyard. The cinnamon rolls at Johnson's Corner are legendary and worth the drive. If this event gets any more popular and you are a few minutes late (like me), then it would be standing room only. There was even a large "Cowboys in Colorado" banner put up in the banquet room.

Gordie Haug gave a really good presentation on this year's recruits. He mentioned how the increase to the recruiting budget allows the coaches to attend Friday night games and see the recruit in action and get to know these kids. You could tell that the "Wyoming Profile" Coach Bohl talks about is the real thing. The coaches don't want to waste time on a kid that cannot accept a small town environment and where a pickup is the vehicle of choice.

The CIC event is as grassroots as it gets. I know that a number of attendees today wrote the state legislature about the matching funds. It really is a neat group of passionate fans and we can and are making a difference. My hope is that we get a legislator from Wyoming, Tom Burman or the new president to attend a CIC breakfast because UW has a peculiar draw in the Front Range that has a lot of unrealized, untapped potential (from student enrollment to expanding the fan base). Jim (DouglasPoke) mentioned a state representative was going to attend but was called away at the last minute. But she was surprised to learn the CIC events were happening! The word needs to get out and CIC is doing that!

Go Pokes!"

My summary

Thanks WTB: A few fill in items from the meeting:

1. Joe Dowler was present the long time Wyoming wrestling coach and former assistant AD;
2. Granderson is up to 215; They like Trevor Meador as well at DE. Prosser is putting on good weight as well.
3. Wick and Josh Allen are probable for medical red shirts; The coaches commented on Josh Allen as being right with Carson Wentz that they knew at NDSU. Of course a lot of positives about Chandler Garrett as a leader, player and a young man with a solid commitment to UW and his word. There was quite the push for a # of these kids at the last minute to jump ship to many, many P5 schools.
4. The new scoreboard is HUGE and along with ribbon boards 4X on the facades of the east and west stands. High Altitude Training Center is scheduled for start in late spring with completion before the start of the 2017 season.
5. O Line getting bigger. They expect Wallace/ Kaden Jackson to be near 300 by the fall. Ryan Cummings as a leader!
6. A need for a tech guy to help with the CIC web site.
7. The middle of the Dline will be with Dalton Fields and Sidney Malaulu will be the core along with what Ii understand are either 3 or 4 JC players that were on campus today for a look. They were very very high on the red shirt from Nebraska Youhana Ghaifan as ready to make a big impact this fall. The JC from Iowa is still dealing with transfer issue, but he is on campus and will be ready for the summer, The UCLA DB will be extremely fast.
8. A review of the walk on program and that Coach Bohl was on a walk on at Nebraska evidences the commitment to the walk on program;
9. As WTB said, a HUGE crowd today all seats were taken. CIC will be either also joining the CJC as a member or sponsoring a hole with the golf tourney in Colorado this summer. A request that all in attendance consider being members of Cowboy Joe, increase by 10% or go up to the next level. A push to write to Thompson about the inequities about the new smaller MWC field in the future. The phone call bank for membership is March 22 at Coors Field
10. Brian Hill...Brian Hill...Andrew Wingard enough said!!!! Wick, Nico Evans and the new kid coming in as a RB,
11. Receivers : CJ Johnson will be factor after his red shirt He had a shoulder issue that kept him out in 2015 and they like him a lot. The new tall kid is a 2.0 of Mulhardt. The staff likes his size. They see the continued growth of James Douglas, Joseph Parker along with Milo Hall .
12. The new kicker from Colorado the staff is very high on him.
13. Great Q & A session after the film. The staff did a great job with the presentation.
14. Wyoming will be recruiting California, Illinois and Minnesota much harder. I believe they have 6 camps set up for this summer for out of state plus there Wyoming campus sites.

I am taking this from memory, but I believe fairly accurate and much more was discussed! Next Cowboys in Colorado meeting is June 25 at Johnson's corner @ 8:00 a.m.

Those that stay will be champions !

Awesome review. I just have a quick question. With Wick as a probable for coming back, is the staff going to red shirt Overstreet?

With the ACL injury I would "suspect" that Kelln will be? It was not discussed as to red shirt, just my assumption!
