Cowboy Walk?

Over on the rivals board there is someone who has claimed they have heard that Christensen will be implementing a Cowboy Walk before each home game. Basically they will do some sort of march-in to the stadium with the band before the game. Has anyone here heard anything similiar? There is no reference to where that person heard it, just an "inside source".

I personally hope it is true. I have always wanted some more pregame festivities to happen in Laramie. Many of the larger schools do similiar type things with march-in's. If it is true I sure hope the fans and the community support it and make it and exciting pregame activity. What is everyone else's thoughts on this?

That would definitely be sweet. Montana's pregame I'm pretty sure can't be beat between the skydivers, mascot riding in on motorcycle, the tunnel entrance from the team, etc. I think the football pre-game atmosphere in Laramie could definitely be improved.. bring some excitement back to the team. If it's true, I say awesome.

It is going to happen, for fact. It was decided and put in place a couple of months ago by DC, his staff, and the administration. Also, the team will be staying together (for home games) in a local Laramie hotel on Friday nights before Saturday games...more than likely at the Hilton Garden Inn.

I think this is a great tradition to start, but as all things Wyoming, will probably take years to make it great. Part of that is to blame on the old gray sum bitches that can't hack change...and part is to blame on how inept it will be marketed by the UW athletic marketing department (more than likely a given).

I agree that in the past several years the advertising by the school and town for different events has been very lacking and caused very little fan attendance at different things.

I sure hope come the fall that Christensen gets UW and Laramie to really advertise the new changes to the football program/activities ect. on anything they are doing or planning to try to generate some excitement and get good fan attendance.

If they don't advertise it and no one knows about it, then the cowboy walk will probably be lame and generate no excitement, but if they advertise it, and we have people lining the sides and following the team in the whole way it could be a big hit

I think the walk in would be a great idea. I'm just not sure how it work. The layout of the stadium, RAC, tailgate park makes a march in a bit awkward I think. Anyone have any idea how this will work?

Whatever they do, it can't be lame. I want my team to be badasses, not cheerleaders. I hate rah-rah shit, I'd rather walk out and chant/scream "we're gonna kill these mothertruckers!" then go do it. Anything that hypes the players or makes them feel like world beaters is great, but don't make em do something they think is lame or aren't into. It has to be a testosterone builder. Honestly, I think I should be a little worried about what my son (6) might hear or see around the players, minutes before the game, but then the players should be totally cool (for a kid to be around) when the game is over, as they have been.

I do think Rah-rah stuff that gets the crowd into it is great. Change is good, just make sure it makes the players feel badass.

to add to the tradition part i was in town this weekend for a bsaketbal tournament and on sun. we played at the college and i went into the weight room and there is a big rock as u walk in with a hammer by it and it says what will u do to break the rock? maybe the players are going to smash it? idk
