I read a twitter message from Chase Appleby the other day and he said that he was officially down 17 pounds since the start of the program.
Sounds like Appleby was one of the guys they were saying had a lot of body fat.

I wonder at 6'-0", 271 what position would he play?I doubt very seriously that a 271 pound defensive lineman will be playing for UW next season.
If he's down that far I would expect to see him at defensive end. I don't foresee us playing any defensive tackles under 300 pounds. 270 is a good size for a 4-3 defensive end, though.
270 for DE in the 4-3? That's actually pushing it quite a bit. The 250s-260s is where you want them for the 4-3. 270s and higher is going into 3-4 DE range. If Appleby can put on 10lbs-20lbs of muscle, he could still do DT.
Ideally you want them 250-260, but if you can find a 270 pound guy (strong, not fat) with a motor and put him at end he would be a game changer. Probably wouldn't be an edge rusher, but he certainly won't get pushed out of the way in the run game often.
One other note, it has been mentioned that 6'-0" is a generous measurement for Chase. So say he is more likely at 5'-11", 270, would you play him at DE with the DE's that we already have on the team? Or would you try him at another position, and if you would, which one?
On a different note. I hope that they move Siaosi Hala'api'api' back to LB, because that appears to be his natural position. It will be interesting to see the players weights, etc. after this winter conditioning program.
One item of somewhat surprise as far as spring ball was concerned was the both Diamanti and Fields are going to be in "Limited" playing position for spring ball. I hadn't heard anything about having any type of injury, does anyone have any info?
