Countdown To Spring Ball

You can't blame the coaches for not recruiting players from the state when the top players from the state can't earn PT and can't hack it on the team and quit.

Take notice of the LACK of Wyoming players on the roster. Only Three left.......a few have since quit. I believe the Powell kid is gone as is the Cowly kid.
I would argue that we should take notice of the lack of D1 talent in the state before we start complaining that there aren't any Wyoming kids on the roster...

Thats a very valid point. You just cant hand out roster spots because we need more Wyo boys. all these guys have to earn a spot. The Anaya kid is a perfect example.

Give it time. Bohl hasn't really been able to go through a full recruiting cycle. He won't be ignoring the state, trust me.

This. I wish people could watch, in person, side by side, a Wyoming high school football game versus a Texas high school football game. They'd understand after that.

I never have been to a Texas HS game, but I did go to one in Oklahoma City. Pretty impressive. They take it pretty seriously even there.

Wantland ? Stadium in Edmond. I can't remember who played. But, it was fairly full...seats about 12,000 or so...so I was told.

My favorite Oklahoma football experience was going to Norman to a UTEP/Oklahoma game. That was so much fun. I didn't even mind the inevitable blowout.

This crap again?........I forgot Wyoming was a D-1 factory state......keeping the talent in state is one thing but offering schollies to sell tickets, etc......defines mediocre :twocents:

Updated 2014 Cowboy Football Roster (sortable by number, name, position, class, height, weight):

* Disregard the "2013 Roster" Header

http://www.gowyo.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/wyo-m-footbl-mtt.html

I'm happy to see we finally have more than 1 player on the d-line approaching 300 lbs. Hopefully that in combination with the improved workouts means they won't be pushed around.

Du'Ryan Ebbesen 6'2, 288 RSFR
Chase Appleby 6'0, 289 SO
James Diamanti 6'4, 296 RSFR
Troy Boyland 6'2, 302, RSJR
Uso Olive 6'1, 293, SO
Patrick Mertens 6'5, 295 SR

I pray Uso keeps developing and becomes a high draft pick after he graduates. That he played the way he did on the line last season as a freshman is rather awesome... between him and Mertens, I have high hopes for this group. Then there's obviously Yarbrough on the end too, who's going to get enough coverage that the others will improve.

I read a twitter message from Chase Appleby the other day and he said that he was officially down 17 pounds since the start of the program. I wonder at 6'-0", 271 what position would he play? I doubt very seriously that a 271 pound defensive lineman will be playing for UW next season. I was thinking that maybe he could move to the fullback position. I have seen a number of twitter messages from players that have gained weight through improving their muscle weight since Duval has started them on the program but Appleby was the only one that I saw that had actually lost weight. The weights that you are listing above are all playing weights from last season and I am anxious to see where the weight training program has taken them. I would not be surprised to see large weight differences with some of the players from their playing weight of last season.

Sounds like Appleby was one of the guys they were saying had a lot of body fat.

If he's down that far I would expect to see him at defensive end. I don't foresee us playing any defensive tackles under 300 pounds. 270 is a good size for a 4-3 defensive end, though.
