I am under the impression that you can't really increase your kicking distance. It's like arm strength. You either have it or you don't.

Maybe I'm wrong..
Of course you can increase kicking distance. Just like golfers can train to hit the ball further. It's all about exercising the fast twitch muscles. Raw strength lifting will not increase distance. In fact, I always caution kickers to stay out of the weight room.

Plyometrics, Especially doing a kicking motion in a pool will reap benefits to the fast twitch muscles. Also resistance band training, parachute sprinting, and core training will all help.

Rothe will be a productive kicker for Wyoming for one reason alone... He has the head. I could tell from the first game he has the mentality to get the job done in game situations.

Even though in the first two games he was not good at all?
I don't believe his early season misses were due to Mental Pressure. I can't say I'm 100% right but I could tell those misses didn't rattle him. I think he was just having some mechanical and timing issues. After all he is a freshman working with a brand new snapper & holder. The timing got better as the season went on.
