I guess I am confused by the timing. He's been making the rounds with the NBA teams and has had what sounds like mostly positive reviews. Why not wait until after thursday to see if any teams reach out to him? Have all 32 teams flat out said were not interested?

Don't get me wrong, I am so stoked for him to continue his career I am just caught off guard and the timing of signing with a foreign team.

I agree with the timing, it's kind of odd. Maybe they did come clean and tell him he's not even a D-League guy. With all the political and economic unrest in Greece, that would be one of the last places I'd want to be working/living. Best of luck to DC though, gotta take advantage of every opportunity no matter what.

I think that there are agreements to opt out of the deal if an NBA situation comes up.

Let's be honest though, there are a lot of guys who get NBA workouts that don't end up in the NBA or NBDL. I think it was pretty obvious going in that the chances for Cooke were pretty slim.

This...a lot of times, guys that are on the edge or the outside looking in will sign these contracts, but they will have nullification clauses for if they sign with an NBA team. These were very prominent during the lockout a few years ago.

nothing but wonderful things for DC, loved him from the beginning and all his hard work is paying off, do well in Greece/Crete, sky's the limit man, maybe see him in an NBA uni in a few years!!!

I'm sure the NBA teams told him what he needs to work on and probably told him his bet bet is to go oversees and work on his game and he will have a chance in the future. The Isle of Crete would not be a bad place to live for a while while playing basketball. What an experience.

Except it seems Greece will implode financially any day now.

They probably told him he has no chance in the NBA truth be told.

DC has no touch compared to NBA players, and has ZERO moves with his left hand.

Playing overseas in Greece is going to be great for him though. What an experience he can get. Brandon Ewing did it and it worked out great. And he is still being paid to play ball. He still gets to be an athlete. Good for him, but let's not pretend he is some NBA project. If he was he wouldn't have signed with a European team before the draft, they would have signed him afterwards and told him to go to the D-League.

Honestly I think his agent told him, get an over seas contract before the Draft so you beat all the people that wait and have a secure thing instead of rushing to get late spots and miss the opportunity.
