Consultants' report & hiring budgets

I was just finally perusing the consultants' report on the football and men's basketball programs and noted the recommendation to benchmark our resources to the rest of the MWC. I would also be interested to see a secondary benchmark based on our historic-but-departed conference breatheren. Namely, where are we compared to the average of the old Skyline and early-WAC schools like Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Utah, and CU-Boulder? These schools--along with New Mexico, CSU and Utah State--really reflect our peers and serve as a useful benchmark for the rate of our program's growth compared to true regional and academic peers.

If we want to see where we should be in terms of resources, etc., I think one could argue this is the more accurate measure.

Cal State-Fresno, UNLV, Cal State-San Jose, and Boise State are not peer institutions to properly base an analysis upon except that we recently let them into our conference for a while.

Thoughts?

My guess would we have always been in the lower 20% of every school that has come and gone.
