Conservative play calling....

Does anyone else have a problem with our ultra conservative play calling against opponents that have us out talented right now? Specifically against Texas and again against TCU we kick field goals from close range instead of going for a TD on 4th and very short. I know TCU has a good defense, but we just moved the ball down the field and now the coaches don't think we can get 6 inches?

I realize that we are rebuilding and that on offense especially we don't have the talent DC wants, it just seems to me that we really haven't tried everything to play aggressive enough on offense against teams that everyone assumes we won't be able to play with.

Just my two cents, but why not get super aggressive and throw the kitchen sink at them. If we are going to lose 50-0 do it with some style and try for some big plays. I really don't need to see us run the ball 3 times and punt all day long and still lose 45-10.

Still a win against the sheep on friday and getting the boot back and going to a bowl would put give us something to look forward to, plus an extra month of practice would be huge for our young guys!

I was more upset with the dropped TD pass. Sure he might not have completely expected the ball to be thrown to him, but he WAS just standing there looking. If you're not actively blocking (which if he had been doing, ACS could have walked in instead of had to throw it last minute), be freaking prepared to catch the ball!

I didn't mind the conservative playcalling, though. ACS has been knocked around a lot this season because our o-line hasn't been able to protect him at all. Against the fastest and strongest defense we have seen all year, I'd rather not take any chances and end up having to rely on Benjamin to beat the sheep.

We did go for it rather than settle for a field goal against BYU and look where it got us. What would you rather have?

I agree Snowman, 100%. 4th & 1 and the 1, and we kick a field goal. Why no go for the pizza...the whole pizza...
