Conference win total forecast

My concern isn't whether we fire Sawful after this coming 2026-2027 season...it's whether, even if we have another crummy year, TB has the stones and fortitude to fire him for the 2027-2028 season.
I can see it this way…

Wyoming starts out with a 1-2 OOC before playing a conference game. The team moves to 5-6 before the last game of the season with UConn. We are 4-4 in conference play so Burman is already giving accolades to signs of success. Then it happens - Wyoming has the ball first and goal on the 9 yard line with 18 seconds left and no TO’s needing only a FG to win the game.

Wyoming tries a run to set the ball up in the middle of the field. The conditions are a little slippery with the continual snowfall during the game. There is a gain of 6 yards and now the FG would be equal to an extra point. The clock is down to 8 seconds and in pretending to spike the ball there is instead a pass attempt into the end zone batted up at the line and intercepted as the slippery ball slides out of the $500,000 QB’s (who had zero FBS offers) hand.

Instead of a 6-6(4-4) record and a trip to the Arizona bowl the Pokes finish 5-7 but Burman solidly backs year 4 in 2027 for Sawful as the program moved up to 88th nationally in total offense scoring an amazing 20.9 points per game on average.

On November 30, 2026 Burman states “The program has made significant progress and the future looks bright”. A week later all 6 key offensive players declare they will enter the portal along with 6 key defensive players right after Sawful signed 23 high school players of which most are considered project players not expected to be productive until 2028.

The reload with blanks is ready for another repeat.

Way too optimistic and probably prophetic
