I'm flying in next week with four of my buddies for homecoming weekend. Its been over 15 years since my last soiree in Laramie. When I was in college the Gallery saloon, The Operating Room, and The Drawbridge were hoppin! Sadly, they are all gone. (We are looking forward to the Buck again though)What are your recommendations for some good food and drink on Friday and Saturday nights? Any pre game tailgating ideas would be great too. Thanks.

Luciano's (where Wingers used to be) is pretty good, from what I've been told. Corona Village is still awesome. There's a calzone place right across from McDonald's on Grand that's also good.

The pizza at Crowbar, but get it to go. Great post-bar late night pie...

Born in a Barn is a pretty cool place. I haven't made it down to the new Library (old fireside) yet. I'm sure it will be pretty cool.

Thanks for the tips, guys. It's going to be a trip coming back to Laramie... as a middle age guy :D

I remember going to Luciano's last year spending twelve or thirteen dollars for a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. It tasted like spaghetti-o's with meatballs. I'll never eat at that place again.

The calzone place is called D.P. dough. I tried the Italian calzone and it was pretty good.

Well that was a year ago. My mother just ate there last night and really enjoyed it.

New library is pretty cool. I went last week. They are still working on the finishing touches but they've done a nice job. It's got a second story as well with pool tables and space for larger groups. Born in a barn is good as well. If you want a late night snack, I suggest almanzas on grand by chilis. It's open 24hrs. The California burrito is the best in my opinion. Steak and french fries inside. Enjoy your weekend!

I'm pissed.. I'm going to be in Denver next weekend, but have no way to get up to Laramie for the game.. blah. Enjoy your trip up there!

Born in a barn is a great burger. Crow bar has a pizza that rivals just about anywhere. I still say altitudes has some of the most under rated beer in town. The Brown Paw ale is delicious and if season the pumpkin ale is tasty to. I refill my growler everytime I'm in town.

I've had red sauces from coast to coast and from some of America's top chefs. Every time I've gone, Luciano's red sauce has been as good or better than anything I've had in Mario Batali's or Carla Pellegrino's restaurants. And $13 is pretty cheap in most full service restaurants...

The Gallery and Operating Room?! Good God man, you are old. Me too.....

Right on! Homecoming is going to be a blast...here is what I would recommend:

Roxies on Grand - good beer, good atmosphere, good location, good food

Bernies Mexican - Bernie has really turned it on there, outstanding food

Altitude Chophouse - good beer, good food

Breakfast at the Buck - self explanatory

17th Street Café - Sunday morning green chile burrito

Trading Post in Centennial for a great steak - ask for Donna to be your server

Pre-game (after the Buck) head to the Ford lot and mingle!

I agree, Nathan is a great brewmaster, and they're winning prizes to prove it :)
