5-1 would not get us a top 25 ranking...not even close. Those 5 wins would include 2 FCS schools and 3 schools that arguably ALL could be included in the worst 20 FBS football teams. While I would be very happy with that record, I do not think it would mean we are anywhere close to a top 25 football team. Outside of Nebraska, our out of conference schedule is a very, very weak one.

We would not need to be undefeated for the first 10 games to get a top 25 ranking. If we beat Nebraska to get to 4-0, you would start seeing some votes for UW immediately. If we beat Utah State the following weak, I think you would see UW sneak into the top 25 at 5-0. You are underestimating how much a Nebraska win would propel UW into the national spotlight.
