Coincidence? Afam?

A friend sent this to me from the Laramie paper...

Coincidence, or our guy? Innocent until proven guilty I say! :tickedoff:

"Afam Muajeke, 27, New York, was arrested on suspicion of forgery"

I thought Afam's last name was spelled - Muojeke?

I hope that it is someone else...but the chances are slim (like one in a million slim). I had originally read your note to read that the clip was from New York (don't know how I read that now)...ugh.

I guess that it has to do with a bogus $20.00. And on that, I am not sure Afam knew the $20.00 was funnymoney...again innocent until proven guilty. Link below:

Oh, and the Laramie Rag misspelled his name (but was quoted to me as such).

Afam was in town last weekend, Brandon Ewing was posting pictures of them.

Fake 20's though...come on man!

And then...

"...the $20 note is the most commonly encountered counterfeit bill in the United States, the $100 note is the most common counter fit bill in worldwide circulation."

Yeah I really doubt Afam is part of some massive counterfeiting operation.

I'm assuming Afam is out on bond since he got pinched on the 26th but tweeted on the 29th that he had "met Jesus this weekend."

Those charges are no joke. Possession carries up to 5 years per count, and the forgery charge carries up to 10. My guess is they got him on forgery for presenting the bill and the other five counts are for possessing other bad 20's. That could add up to 35 years.

A gal in Cheyenne got nailed last year on similar charges after stealing some credit cards and a checkbook. She spent about $2,100 and caught charges for 15 counts of forgery. She cut a deal with the prosecutor to go down to 4 counts, but they still recommended 4 to 8 years for each guilty plea.

Really hope this was a mix up and that it's cleared up by now. If you ask me to trust either the LPD or Afam I wouldn't go with the boys in blue, that's for sure.

Well, as I understand it. Afam was using the fake $20's for small purchases (according to a direct quote from him) to get change, as he knew the $20's were fake. He also stated he was given the fake $20's for a sale he made in NY for 2 pairs of shoes for $800.00 (or something like that).

I looked for a link, and couldn't find shit. Maybe somebody from Laramie has an update / link?
