Too bad, we made this long trip to Georgia only to go one, two, barbecue.

The first game was a pitcher's duel as Carlos Casas threw the complete 7 innings and only allowed 2 runs and the pokes failed to score, falling to Illinois 2-0.

The second game was a rematch of last year's national championship game against Penn State. The game went extra innings and Dustin Stallings threw all 9 innings. The Pokes had a 4-0 lead in the 4th inning and slowly lost the lead over the next 3 and a half innings. Failing to take advantage of a few insurance runs early the pokes lost 5-4 in the ninth.

Better luck next year I suppose. The heat, humidity and dense air was just not what we're used to, and being the only team to have to deal with a 2 hour change in time while playing the first game at 10 AM on Friday.

2 very competitive games...I was surprised to see Penn State get beat in round one to be honest. Nothing to be ashamed of, and definitely something to build on!

Both of those games sound like games I would like to have been there to see.
