Excuses make life so much easier.
Yes, they do.
When Christensen took the job in Laramie, I recall him saying that he had other opportunities, but felt he could be (most) successful at Wyoming. What happened? Good points were made in the comments above.
So what was the real point in stating the obvious? To me, this was just another public attempt by Dave to subtly rationalize his failure at UW in front of a friendly Ute audience.
Bohl looks and sounds like the real deal. Christensen wasn't.
Haha Bohl said the exact same thing about having other opportunities but Wyo being the place he could succeed the most.
Ruh-roh, here we go again.
The difference being is that Bohl spent the last 10+ years as a head coach recruiting, coaching, and developing players. DC spent the last 10 years calling plays and recruiting offensive guys. And Mizzou is looking better than ever without him.
Yes Mizzou NOW is looking better than ever, but it took 4 years without him to get back to where they were with him.
I'm not anti-Bohl or pro-DC but don't just make it seem like the moment he left Mizzou they were all of a sudden better.
Mizzou Records:
2005: 7-5 (Won bowl game)
2006: 8-5 (Lost bowl game)
2007: 12-2 (Won bowl game)
2008: 10-4 (Won bowl game) Also produced a Heisman finalist QB and had one of the top scoring offenses in the NCAA for 2 years.
DC leaves Mizzou for Wyo
2009: 8-5 (Lost bowl game)
2010: 10-3 (Lost bowl game)
2011: 8-5 (Won Bowl game)
MIZZOU leaves Big12 for SEC paycheck
2012: 5-7 (No bowl game)
2013: 12-2 (Won bowl game). (5th season w/out DC...half a decade later)
The final 4 years DC was there Mizzou went 37-16 and went 3-1 in bowl games.
The 4 years after DC left Mizzou for Wyo Mizzou went 31-20 and went 1-2 in bowl games.
I know a lot of it was due to the players they had like Daniel and Gabbert, but it's incorrect to assume that because DC left, Mizzou is in a better spot.
And the last 2 season he was there were undoubtedly better than the last 2 seasons without him, although this last season alone was probably one of the best Mizzou ever had, but not much better than 2007 with him.
I do agree that Bohl has the advantage over DC in the fact that Bohl has built a legit team that can beat big teams and was the head coach for it during the entire time, where DC has never been the HC coming into Laramie.
I was simply joking around when I pointed out that Bohl and DC said the same things about coming to Wyo.
Still, any day Bohl>DC and I hope we play Utah in the Vegas Bohl and our defense that has been one of the worst in the country while DC was here pitches a shutout against his Utes. And our offense scores in abundance, more points than he averaged per game while here.
Just a total nightmare for DC and his BCS buddies.
