Classy Dave Christensen in SLC Paper

"Oh really? I never had any problems beating BCS schools. And I'll prove it again at Wyoming."

Signed,
Craig Bohl

Dave made approximately $1.2 million yearly at "non-BCS" Wyoming. How much is he making annually at BCS Utah now, and does he miss that extra cash?

Wyoming repeatedly ante'd up on resources...Dave just flubbed how he used them. Further, there ain't enough resources in Wyoming to cover up for the tirade with the AFA coach (not saying it wasn't deserved...but it was likely used against us in recruiting) or for the hiring of coaches like our most recent set of defensive coordinators.

He had every facility known to contribute meaningfully to recruiting and building a team.

He got additional funds repeatedly for new coaches salaries.

He got additional resources for recruiting.

What else did he want?

Christensen was always a fish out of water here. He did not fit. The entire surface area of the state of Wyoming could not contain the man's ego.

Don't we all know that the power 5 schools have more resources? Not much new there or even reason to get mad at Christenson. He said what we all know. they have more resources than we have. There are reasons to rip him but this isn't one IMHO. But thats just me.

DC's right. We don't have the resources. We need to build that.

Still, even if he's right, it's an excuse for failure. He didn't have to make 1.33 million a year. He could have made 830,000 a year and used 500,000 to pay for better coordinators. That was his choice.

Either way, it's about to be a moot point anyway. After the following season DC is going to be one of very few NCAA coaches that got fired twice in less than 400 days.

I assumed after the AF rant WOOOOOO! he would have had respect of the players........apparently wrong. I don't think I've seen one positive thing from a player about DC. :coffee:

DC is not head coach material. He is strictly an offensive coordinator. Seeing the differences in that already with Bohl at the helm. Bohl is what a head coach stives to be.

One of the biggest hints that proves DC was not Head Coach material is what Bohl talked about in his PBS interview: not micro-managing his coordinators. A LEADER trusts his subordinates to do their job. When leaders start micro-managing, it proves they have no trust in their leadership ability, themselves, and their subordinates. DC never had that trust to start with, and was destined to fail because of it.

He's a tool, let's get over him. The players are, why can't we?

What - he didn't call out Burman's ethics and try to beat him up via the newspaper?

Here here to Blink of an Eye 3 and out Dave!

@WYOUNIFORMS: @BCasavan @mikevorel I asked T. Gipson why he let his younger brother go to New Mexico and he told me that he wouldn't let him play for DC

I don't think he's taking a jab at Wyoming at all. It didn't work out here in Wyoming, many of us including myself thought he would get it done.

No former HC of any school who was fired has many kind things to say about their former employer.

That's the thing, he has been taking shots not only at UW, but (subtetly) saying the players that HE recruited were not very good.

I think we're being a bit too sensitive about these quotes. There's no doubt DC isn't the most personable, classy guy around, but it's very difficult to say positive things about your new team without conversely making your old team look inferior.

He's obviously not going to say, "Well here at Utah things aren't as good as they were in Wyoming, but I'm here anyway". That'd be a lie and supremely stupid.

Excuses make life so much easier.

Yes, they do.

When Christensen took the job in Laramie, I recall him saying that he had other opportunities, but felt he could be (most) successful at Wyoming. What happened? Good points were made in the comments above.

So what was the real point in stating the obvious? To me, this was just another public attempt by Dave to subtly rationalize his failure at UW in front of a friendly Ute audience.

Bohl looks and sounds like the real deal. Christensen wasn't.
