My opinion, if BS had AP's throwing velocity and accuracy we would be 10-1 right now or possibly undefeated. Smith just doesn't have the long passing game skills that Adam has which is why we pretty much dink and dunk our way down the field. This is going to be a great battle this spring and fall for the starting spot. I don't think Wyo's ever had this much talent at QB ever. The great thing is, we will be successful with either guy as our starter. I'm not pulling for one or the other, I just want the cream to rise to the top and go kick some ass!

Not to mention that it's entirely possible to have Smith in the halfback spot while Pittser takes the snap. After that, pretty much anything can happen.

LOL. Hasn't it already? What a shitty post in general and extra shitty going into this week. Goes without saying as one of the dumbest I've seen in awhile. Let's backtrack shall we?

I seem to remember the vast negative majority of people on here stating that this team would be fortunate to have won 5 maybe 6 tops, with it probably more realistically being in the 4 to 5 win area. Now Zapp is talking about how, if Brett Smith would have had the arm that Adam Pittser has we would be undefeated or have lost 1 game? Really??? That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in awhile. 1) Here is a kid that has led a team to 7 probably 8 wins (9 with a bowl win) 2) Will be named the MWC Freshman of the Year 2) Has a good shot to be named 1st team Freshman All-American QB 3) Led a reversal of fortune that has not been seen since 1998 around these parts. 4) Broke the all-time freshman record for total offense in the MWC held by Andy Dalton. Yeah, I agree Zappinfake, let's replace him. He's shitty...

I agree with your post. If not for B. Smitty we could easily be 4-7 or 3-8. Won a lot of close games on the back of BS and a D that didn't quit.

I don't think zappin ever said B. Smith was shitty so it probably isn't wise to put words in his text. On the other hand I don't agree that Wyoming would have been 10-2 or 11-1 with Pittser either. I will say raw talent wise Pittser is a better QB but as far as leadership and intangibles Smith has the edge on Pittser so it will be an interesting spring. Smith is not guaranteed to start as Christiansen has always said ALL positions are ALWAYS up for grabs.
So it is entirely possible for Pittser to win the starting job next spring. Not saying he will and not saying he is better than Smith but you can't say for sure he isn't either. That is like saying if Kellen Moore or Andrew Luck came to Wyoming they wouldn't get a shot at the starting QB position just because Smith won freshman of the year. Freshman of the year in the league is a great award but there can always be someone better. I'm not comparing Pittser to Luck or Moore either but my point is whoever the best QB ends up being will get the job and just because Smith won the Freshman of the year award this year doesn't mean he doesn't have to compete for his job still.
As was stated earlier let the cream rise to the top. Smith is the cream right now for sure but it doesn't mean Pittser won't beat him out either.
I do think it will take quite a bit to sit B. Smith down though.

WTF. A crazy thread - forced me to join. Come to Colorado, B. Smith. You blow us away, young one. We have been following you. Have a season like you've had, and we won't be neutral about you. We WILL PULL FOR YOU just like you PLAY YOUR HEART OUT for us. Come to Boulder and turn the Buffs around - you are a PROGRAM CHANGER. You already have diehard fans here - we got you, young Brett Smith.

Some of you guys in here make me laugh because of how easily you get offended and misconstrue words. No one ever said that Pittser is better or anything. In fact the original post mentioned wanting Smith to have Pittsers arm strength and accuracy...and how awesome that Mythical QB would be! We all are on board the Smith train! BUT if someone else can come in and beat him out for the job, we will back them. All that we want is a winning team. If we wanted to follow someone on who we like best based on one season and personality, Glenn would still be HC!

Bottom line is to cool your freaking horses and hope whoever is best suited for each position is in that position...and the Cowboys win!

Calling young Brett Smith. If you come to Boulder, you will not get this PC-shit above. We've seen enough. We know who you are. Think about it, young Brett - the Pac-12!!

This is a great article and a good idea by Christensen. He has 4 QB's on the team now, and its a far better idea to try to keep them happy than to have them give up and do something else. We had no QB when ACS left, he was the only one.

Brett Smith - Well rounded quarter back able to make great decisions. Jack of all trades, master of none.
Sam Stratton - Doing whatever he can to find playing time, and right now that looks to be the Wild Stratt.
Adam Pittser - Great arm, great accuracy, more of an accurate passing threat.
Kirkguard - I can't quite put my finger on him, but the only competition I saw him play against was TCU.

Our offensive line isn't good enough to have Pittser play too much. He needs time to pass and doesn't pose as much of a run threat as Smith.

It looks to me like we have a nice arsenal of quarterbacks forming in Laramie. We are starting to build some depth across all of our offense as well as balance.

Yup, his accuracy really showed during fall camp. I think it is a good thing he RS this year. I definitely would NOT say we would be 10-1 under Pittser. Honestly, with what I was noticing at fall camp we would probably be lucky to have 4 or 5 wins with him in there. Pittser doesn't run like Smith does. Smith has a whole other dynamic than just throwing.

Imagine how good a QB would have to be to beat Smith out. IF it ever were to happen, I would be very confident in that QB's ability.

I agree with wyoirish. Luckily, the fans i've seen in person at the games seem to be more satisfied with Brett's performance this year than some people on here. But breaking freshman records aint a big deal right?.. pshhh come on son. Be grateful and enjoy the amazing season we are having for crying out loud. Quit trying to stir up a QB controversy. To say that Brett isn't one of the main reasons for this Poke turnaround is foolish.

P.S. You can't make a judgement on Smith's arm strength if he is throwing 20+ screens a game. He isn't the playcaller, that ain't on him. Plus a lot of his deep throws have been on the run. I'm sure if Brandon opened up the playbook a bit we'd see Smith's arm more.

The kid helps lead you to a bowl after a season like last year, and you want to start a QB controversy now? I certainly hope that comments like that are the exception and not the rule. Pittser couldn't beat Brett out last fall, and I guarantee Brett's going to focus on getting even more prepared for next season. But like has been previously mentioned, this shouldn't even be an issue.

People are certainly reading more into the comments than what has actually been said. Relax folks. All that was said was, is that some wish Brett was a bit stronger and a bit more accurate (like another qb on the roster). No one said anything about wanting Pittser over Smith taking the snaps. We only want the best QB we can have on the field...no matter who it is.

It will never happen. Smith leads this team, the team and coaches know it and its obvious. He will lead this team for the next 3 years. The only way Pittser sees the field is if something happens to Smith and Kirk. Coach C loves Smith and so does everyone else connected to the program, even Adam. He even knows it. Smith is the current and the future and will be an All-American before he's done and an NFL draft pick. Teams already looking at him and enquiring on him. Bank it. Out.
