Chris Engler - ALS

Just saw an article in the Mpls paper that Chris Engler has ALS. Man I hate that disease.

ALS is absolutely brutal. I've had a few family members that met their end due to ALS. I can't think of anything worse than your mind staying sharp while your body shuts down. Just awful.

Just read this thread - how awful. So very sad. I was at every home game the years he played - what a warrior.

Chris Engler and his wife, Cara, are hopeful for ongoing treatments to slow ALS and perhaps — 80-plus years after the death of Lou Gehrig — that researchers will find the big answer.

Side note - Patrick Reusse who wrote the story has visited Laramie several times for Tracy Ringolsby hosted media field trips and has written many UW-Minnesota connection articles in the past.

That's horrible news. I knew him as I was in school when he was.

He was my neighbor when I lived on 9th street. This is heartbreaking
