Character

I know we have had some issues of late, but am the only one impressed by the class of these kids? Not to mention many are not scared to mention their faith. It's not that Faith=Good Kid, but at least their trying and college can be character grinder.

Ever since we started seeing our players on Twitter, I've noticed quite a few of them mentioning their faith. Some of those kids have turned out great, others... not so much.

I don't see where this makes them of higher character. If someone has a strong character, then they are probably fine just keeping their faith to themselves...where it belongs.

The guy that beats his ole lady also mentions Jesus and god on draft day.

Churches are full of a$$holes...that's the point. I am sure ya'lls record is spotless, so I will make sure and keep my posts to useless speculation from now on.

Of course they are. That is the point. They are full of a$$holes who recognize they are a$$holes and prone to be so. The question isn't what human nature is. The question is just how one tries to cope with its consequences.

Churches have never been there for the folks who don't need help.

It takes a lot of courage in college today to stand up and mention one's faith. I personally think it is wonderful.

Courage? Over 70% of the population in this country consider themselves Christians. I've never been persecuted for my faith or felt at risk when I've shared it. I imagine it'd be a LOT harder to be a high school/college athlete and stand up and say you did not have faith... or, Lord forbid, that you are Muslim.

There are plenty of people who are trying to claim us Christians are facing persecution, though... just look at those "God's Not Dead" movies and their idiotic story lines. A lot of people confuse not being allowed to intrude their faith on others as being persecuted, though.

The responses completely lost the point of my initial post, but I get it. The funny part is it got lots of essentially negative commentary for mentioning "unmentionables" yet folks balk at the idea that riducule could happen...irony? I wish the moderator would delete the post...lol.

I mean, if somebody wants to ridicule you, they'll find something regardless of what it is. I'm just pointing out that standing up for being a Christian doesn't really make you a target more than anything else.

I don't mind at all that players declare their faith either.

Religious does not equal high character nor does non religious mean low moral character.

The point was lost to the original post though and that is that he believes the players have good character and I'll agree with that
