Chandler Garrett Transferring?

Sounds like a whiny baby after reading that newspaper article.

I didn't get that. Sounds like he just wants to play. And he'll do that at whatever fucked up okie juco school he went to. Maybe he'll grow up some more and get discovered by someone and play right away

Maybe he saw what the "guy" in front of him was doing, and knew he probably could never get to that level - or work that hard to get to that level (or aspire to get to that level)? That is a tough thing to come to grips with. Good luck to the kid.

I don't think when he was recruited that anybody knew that Josh Allen was going to be a great QB. I remember the Spring ball reports and yes, Allen was the best, but was best among some fairly poor QB play. This fall he obviously turned it up a notch. Garret wants to play sooner rather than later and didn't want to wait. He also was missing home and has a lot of younger brothers and sisters. It's a win-win for him, but zero chance to play in big games against big opponents. Playing was more important than winning, obviously. Thus, no buy in.

He makes it sound like the staff intentionally lied to him...that they promised him a starting gig and they knew they wouldn't give it to him.

He needs to remember that Allen wasn't recruited until after Garrett committed. And it's not like they recruited Allen to sabotage Garrett either....read that Allen article. They didn't even know about him.

But can you blame them for recruiting Allen if they already promised a lesser player a starting gig? I can't.

I don't think Allen was recruited after he committed. If memory serves me correct. Garret committed summer of 2015, graduated HS in 2016... Allen was part of our spring 2015 class

OK I was slightly off on that...still the point was that they weren't exactly in the market for a QB until they saw him, probably because they felt pretty good about their chances of getting Garrett.

The timeline doesn't change anything for me. He was promised the opportunity to compete for the starting QB position. Go earn it. Only 1 QB went out and earned it and it wasn't Chandler Garrett. He took his toys and went home. Being promised the same opportunity as someone else isn't the same and being promised the same results as someone else. Allen clearly did more with his opportunity.

He went from a DI school to a terrible D2 school? That's quite the step down there.

Some people just want to play, though. I'm not willing to sit on the bench for a higher division sports team when I can play as a starter in a lower division, so I totally understand where he's coming from.

On the other hand, for college sports you should probably weigh in what you're studying before transferring too. No idea what his major was, so can't really comment on that part, however.

And it's only 30 miles from home. Maybe that was more important to him than he originally realized?

Ha, he went to Central Oklahoma. The same Central Oklahoma that was the ONLY win for Nebraska-Kearney this year, and UNK was awful. Good luck to him, he shouldn't have any problem getting playing time there.
