Chandler Garrett Transferring?

I guess sitting three years and possibly starting for two wasn't his cup of tea?

Josh getting a medical makes chandler wait another year.

I always thought the ideal spacing is for a new junior QB to come onstage after his predecessor graduated. Chandler was spaced exactly perfectly behind Allen. It is a little worrisome to have a sophomore start at quarterback, even if he does redshirt.

This strikes me as a little selfish because two years starting would be ideal. (In fact, Josh Allen would have only started for two years if he had not gotten injured last year.)

Pretty sure he would have taken over starting full time last year if he hadn't gotten hurt. He still would have started 3 years just a different 3 years.

Looks like another big, relatively mobile guy with a strong arm. I read up on his and Leppke's scouting report coming in. I'm curious as to others thoughts on Leppke. If he's seen as someone who can compete once Allen is gone or fill a role similar to Smith now (career backup and depth builder). He was a pretty good QB and arguably bigger track star.

I thought the spacing was ideal too, for us. But 3 years of waiting might have been too much. He'd only be one snap away from playing if josh got hurt. Maybe it wasn't a football decision ?

Leppke reminds me of an Austin Conway (Who BTW played QB in HS) He's just an athletic freak that could have chose football, basketball, or track in college and can play multiple positions. He's another one like Josh Allen who came from a small town in California. Turning down a scholarship offer from B1G Iowa in track and field and accepting a preferred/recruited walk on says something about his drive. He has the height but not the weight of the other QB'S. UNLV'S Palandech is the same size approximately and we saw what he did to us. Spring ball will give us a better gauge on all of our QB'S in the stable. I assume Leppke is running scout O right now that Garrett is gone. Can't wait to hear "Cowboy Up" played over the jumbotron. That song gets me pumped.

I'm all for the kids putting in work and being all about Wyoming. Chandler was a big cheerleader for Wyoming too and now he's gone. Basically I don't care who is Wyoming's future quarterback as long as they give us the best chance to win. It'd be a great story if Isaac was that person to take over. I didn't think Chandler wanted to wait three years.

You wouldn't happen to be Leppke Sr. would you? You're fairly new and picked a strange topic to comment on so I'm inclined to think you know Isaac in some fashion, especially since you also mention the "cowboy up" song.

It's totally cool if you are a relative, but you'd want to divulge that. We've had some relatives on the board before.

Just a diehard Central Valley football fan that likes to keep up with our boys abroad at UNLV, CSU, and Wyo. Just so happens 4 play for Wyo and 3 are quarterbacks. And they're all from within a 30 mile radius. I give Szpor credit also. He played in our highest division. He suffered a knee injury his junior year and got back on the horse his senior year. His dad was a stellar athlete at Fresno State. I'm sure he'd love to throw the ball some day but also feel he's content being on the field now as a holder. Allen played in our smallest division so for him to be where he's at is phenomenal. The true hidden gem. He's been that perverbial kick in the nuts to Fresno State for not picking him up. He's made the Central Valley proud from afar and it would be nice to see that pipeline continue.

That's great insight! Thank you very much and welcome aboard! Here's to your Central Valley kids getting it done at UW!

Given the way he started off the Eastern Michigan game, I kind of thought the same thing. Especially in light of how things went the rest of the season after he went down. Truth be told, I almost wonder if Allen's injury wasn't a blessing in disguise for him because he got another year of maturity--both for himself and for the rest of the team--without losing a year of eligibility. I wonder if he could even get a little premium from an NFL team as a mature, 23-year-old senior with a full 3 years of starting experience in the 2019 draft?

Garrett going to UCO
Interesting. I can see why he wanted to stay in Oklahoma but UCO? They are not doing well in the MIAA as of late. A lot of alumni wished they hadn't left the Lone Star Conference a few years back but....

I still don't understand why he transferred. Next year he could have been #2 on the depth chart, one play away from being in the game. Learn a great system and most likely start your final two years

Probably hated the typical Wyoming snowstorms and wasn't used to seeing THAT much snow!!!!

Oklahoma only gets one "typical Wyoming style" snowstorm once every 9-10 years!!!! In Wyoming, we get a blizzard 2-3 times A YEAR!!! It's also why nobody here knows how to drive on ice!!!!!

tells a little more about why he left

You had your shot, you're just not better than Allen. Quit whining and put in your time. Make improvements, learn the system, be a good teammate, and after next season have the reigns turned over to you. Or finish your playing days for a glorified high school team. Whatev.

I agree itsucks, He had a chance to be the starter from day one. Every single player stepping foot on campus has a chance. What they don't get is, there are other people wanting the same thing and those people may be better, have more experience etc. Those coaches want everyone to be the next great player, but not everyone can be that.
