CBS, ESPN TV announcements

Root will prob be carrying WYO vs UNC, UNM, CSU, AFA, and Hawaii.

May also get picked up for an ESPN late slot against Utah State and SJSU. I'd be ok with an 8 or 9 pm start for either of those road games.

I remember watching Wyoming beat the shit outta BYU in 1988 in Laramie on a Thursday night telecast on ESPN!!!! The attendance for that game was 28,847. So I don't buy the whole if we play on a Thursday night the attendance will be shit argument.

I remember that too. But a couple of things. One, we were a quality program back then. Two, it was our very first night game ever. People wanted to experience the first night game. And three, BYU was one of the top in the nation.

I remember 1998 when we had BYU #15 come to Laramie for a week day night game. Wyoming won 31-17. Attendance just over 18,000. Can't base your facts on one game 25 years ago. There have been many others since.

And Cornpoke, you may have been sneaking down to watch the late games, But the whole eastern part of our country is in bed, the far west, doesn't care, and you and me staying up to watch means nothing, other than Wyo fans stayed up late to watch their own team play. I don't count that as national exposure.

When all is said and done, most of Wyoming's games will be on tv. They might not be nationally broadcast Thursday/Friday games on ESPN, or CBSSN. But, we will be on tv....most likely Root, BTN, and maybe an ESPN game.

The mtn was great, but probably had less viewership than even Root. Just an FYI.

Who gives a shit about national viewership when Wyo fans can't even watch it?

I don't care if no one sees the games but I want to watch.

All I can say is that I would be able to see almost all the games on TV now I hardly get to see any. God I miss the Mountain

I never ever complained about the Mountain for me it was the best thing the MWC had going for it and then thet got rid of it ...STUPID should have hung on to that at all cost.

I didn't complain about it either. With the mtn we could watch every conference football and most conference basketball games plus some of the girl basketball games. Last year I was able to see four football games on tv and a handful of basketball games.

With the tv schedule they just released you think we will have more than 4 or 5 games on TV? I doubt it. I don't care if we have national exposure, do I like when we do sure but I just want to be able to watch my team.

I never bitched about it. I bitched about the broadcast teams they would assign from time to time, but I LOVED having the mtn. around!

This.

Wow...we are sure a short-sighted group of fans. Who cares about national viewership? How about the fans who aren't in and around Wyo? More importantly, the recruits and their family and friends?! Why would a recruit from anywhere outside of the front range want to come here if their family and friends will never get to see them on tv?

But who cares when you get yours!

Not sure anyone is not wanting the Pokes to be on national television. In fact, I'm sure everyone on this board would like Wyoming to get some nationally televised games. We still have potential for a ESPN game or two. However, when you are given lemons (Espn weeknight games or CBSSN not carrying Wyoming) do you complain? Or make lemonaid?

I agree long term the deal will work out. Just have to start winning. We will have at least one game on ESPN this year(boise) and maybe a couple others. I loved the MTN and never complained about it but last year I was able to watch every game the cowboys played one way or another so it didn't effect me too much. I am sure I will see every game this year too, somewhere. So, from the selfish side I don't care. This deal got us more money than we would have gotten so its good for the school. Once we start to win we will have more high profile games and will be on national tv.
I wish we could have kept the mtn so I could watch other MTN west games but don't know the particulars of why it went away. If we could have bought it from whoever owned it and ran it as a conference if that was feasible. I don't know.

I want to know how you were able to watch the Toledo, Cal Poly and Nevada games as they were not broadcast on tv at all?

Nevada had a local internet stream. Cal Poly and Toledo were home games and he was probably at those games.

However, IMO, the biggest advantage of the mountain was for other sports such as women's and men's basketball. A lot of us are unable to travel to Laramie on weekdays. I used to watch every women's game that I could on TV. I hate to admit it, but I only saw the Cowgirls play once this year. I would like to see the Mountain West create an internet channel (similar to ESPN 3) for games that aren't otherwise broadcast. I believe that the renegotiated agreement with CBS even allows for such.

Yeah I was at all home games and watched the nevada game on the internet. Wasn't the greatest quality but it worked. So as others were saying from a selfish point of view the loss of the MTN didn't affect me much except watching other teams get to play which I do enjoy.

I have heard there will be a new digital network so maybe all games will be streamed online.
