Pretty pathetic and sad for Wyoming so far.

Air Force 7 games (4 CBSSN, 1 ESPN, 2 ESPNU)

Boise State 6 games (4 CBSSN, 2 ESPN)

Colorado State 5 games (all CBSSN)

Fresno State 2 games (1 CBSSN, 1 ESPN)

Hawai'i 3 games (all CBSSN)

New Mexico 1 game (ESPNU)

Nevada 4 (3 CBSSN, 1 ESPN)

San Diego State 6 (5 CBSSN, 1 ESPN)

San Jose State 5 games (3 CBSSN, ESPN, ESPN2)

UNLV 2 games (1 CBSSN, 1 ESPNU)

Utah State 6 games (5 CBSSN, 1 ESPN)

Wyoming None

Still 16 games left needing to be announced.....but yeah, it isn't looking good at all for UW. Wyoming will be ESPN3.com University this fall.

I made a statement on this board right after we learned that espn would be televising some of the MWC games. I said Wyoming would get screwed because espn does not like Wyoming and several people on here ridiculed me for saying that. Well folks, here we go.

I'm not shocked at all that Wyoming got zilch. We haven't done squat since Dimel was here. You can thank UW Administration, the ADs, AND the state yahoos running things in Cheyenne for this. UW needs a lot more $$ to upgrade the football program but sadly we aint going to get it from Cheyenne!

Take a look at the listed ESPN games and tell me what you see. They are all Friday night games except one which is a Thursday night game. Wyoming's refusal to play weeknight games cost us. ESPN isn't looking for noon, 1:00, or 2:00pm Sat games. Expect our home games to be on ROOT.

Welcome to espn folks - we are really gonna be big time now.

If we somehow upset Nebraska or Brett starts putting up monster numbers, they'll make some schedule changes, but it will take at least one of these things to happen.

So, could a new Athletic Director actually do worse than this?

This tv schedule doesn't just come down to the AD. It's conference and networks. Our AD is kind of a middle man when it comes to this.
Burman was probably asked if we would consider a Thurday night game for espn, and he probably turned it down. Which "IF" that was the case, I would back him completely.
I remember those thursay and friday night games on espn. We would get to start at 8:00pm. The game wouldn't end till almost midnight. National exposure? Half the country is in bed or doing something else with their time. Not to mention, most espn games we had were in late october or early to mid november. Bad weather+ Peoples work week+ late night= Very small attendance and not the tv audience that any network wants. Saturday boasts national programs on demand, there is no way we would get a piece of that, unless we played one of those top teams, like Tennesse at Tenn. Auburn at Auburn or Georgia at Georgia, and so forth. I'm just looking at our past from not to long ago. That was the only way we got true national exposure. And more than likely, it's still the only way to get true national exposure.
Now, I am all for regional exposure every week to every other week, and I hope that we get some of those games. If we don't, then I might think about placing the blame on Burman.

This hurts us in more ways than one. First the lack of national exposure compared to the other teams in the MWC hurts us. Fans out of the rocky mountain region and potential recruits can't see our games.

Secondly, remember that teams on national TV get a bonus up too 300K per game. So as of now we are not getting any of that pie and we already have one of the smallest budgets of anyone in the MW.

This is about advertising dollars, not who the AD is or how big our athletic budget is. It's about tv market size. Boise St developed a national following by playing whenever ESPN asked them to and by winning those games.

Boise also sold out those games. We don't. We're lucky to get 17,000 in the seats for games like that.

I disagree. I remember as a kid sneaking downstairs late on wed/thursday nights to watch whatever college game was on, didn't matter to me, but i specifically remember Wyoming being on quite a bit and thinking Wyoming offense was so fun to watch and how "unique" it was to be watching a WAC game on at that time. There were no other games to compete with!

For the aspiring high school player I think it's a great recruiting tool. I realize tv viewing has changed but I'll never forget thinking how I would love to live in Wyoming one day. Then Wyoming has a home game in Nashville! and invites many recruits from the area. Great experience I'll never forget

I remember watching Wyoming beat the shit outta BYU in 1988 in Laramie on a Thursday night telecast on ESPN!!!! The attendance for that game was 28,847. So I don't buy the whole if we play on a Thursday night the attendance will be shit argument.

Thursday night games are awesome.
Wyo fans seem like we want shit handed to us.
We refuse to play on ESPN unless it is primtime saturday shit? Yeah that's a great idea because everyone wants to watch wyoming and new mexico instead of Oregon and Standford, or Oklahoma and Texas.
Utah had no problem playing thursday night games and getting people to see them on TV. And hey, now they are in the PAC12. Boise played on Tuesday and Monday nights as well as Thursday. Oh and hey they have won 2 BCS Bowls and 10 games a year for 7+ now?
Wyo wants primetime stuff and we suck. That is great thinking.

Any day of the week would be ok with me, but on the schedule that came out we had zero - zilch - nada games on espn or cbs. Now we might get one game @ BSU on espn - but that is only because all of BSU's games at home are on espn. That is really great exposure and that is what I am laughing about. espn can go straight to hell as far as I am concerned.
