Can someone shed some light on this? I'm trying to understand the incentive for the school. As I understand it, Wyoming laid down 40K for rounds one and two and another 75k for this next round. I heard David Settle imply that the incentive is based on giving these kids a chance to play and grow together under a 'survive and advance' platform. But 1) I don't think the AD would have the perspective of "Well, we're gonna lose a lot of money but this experience MIGHT help next years team and MAYBE grow next year's attendance IF we win and IF we get multiple games in a low grade tourney." 2) If the whole premise is based on molding the team for next year, aren't road games even more valuable to learn and grow as a young team?
Or is the incentive somehow more money driven to get a profit in the here and now? For example, is the profit all risked on whether or not you make the championship? I heard that hosting the ship is no cost to the school.
Also, does anyone know who woulda got the next home game if say, two schools both had equal bids? Or did every school make different bids?
I find all this to be very interesting, so answers would be greatly appreciated.
