Calling out all the fans..............10k fans.....lets go..

Had the night to rest and think about how the 6th man can really control the end of the season.
Listen up Wyoming Fans.....I was at the game with my wife who hates sports and our 2 kids.
Late game, 50 mile drive home and I have to say this might have been the low point in regards to fan attendance. To have Prarie View and 1 other game be our top draws for 2008-2009 is just horrible.
11-1 at home is a great product regardless of the record. 15-10 and 3 games lost by 7 points and this team could be 18-7 right now. Think about that. Langford doesn't go off for 36 and the TCU game is a win. We don't give up a layup at the end of Boise and we close at Utah State in regulation and this is a 18-7 team.....

The fan support would probably be the same. There are many teams who wish they had a facility the size of the AA and for some reason the fans act like Homers.

I took a look at when was the last time we drew 10,000 fans for a game.....1-29-05 that's 4 years ago.....
You wonder why players don't sign to come here!!!! In order to improve the product the fan support has to be there and a team that is fearless at home 7200 feet altitude and with a 6th man on top of all that.

After last night's improved defensive performance, the next step will be to cut down on the turnovers and this team can be 20-10 going into Las Vegas as a possible 5 Seed....... or even a 4 seed with all the chaos of teams playing on the road....

This team has had it's ups and downs but the one thing that the fan base who claims to be Pokes fans.....
A 1:30 start on Saturday has to bring 8-9k in fan support minimum. Why do you think teams get run out the building on the road? The fans are responsible for at least 5 or 6 calls a game.

For all of the defensive woes this season, at least we don't have a product where we didn't have a steady backcourt and some promising newcomers.... Waddell last night come on, get this kid some more minutes and experience and he's 1st team all conf by JR or SR year......

I have 40 family members coming out for Senior Day and hopefully the Seniors Brandon Ewing from Chicago, Tyson Johnson from New York and Sean Ogirri from Denver/East Coast. Hopefully the fans come out and say thank you vs New Mexico who drubbed us down in Albuquerque.

It's not very often you have a 2k scorer who this year has improved and his team is 3 games better than last years win total, they beat SDSU and UNLV are holding serve at home and the least we can do to turn this program around is to do our part so that 7200 feet is the most feared building to play in the country. It's the highest, so lets make it the deadliest....

Go Pokes

I was appauled at the overall attendance, and moreso, I was shocked at the lack of student attendance. It wouldn't cost any of the 10,000 of them a dime to walk through the doors of the AA last night. Hell, UW caters to the students with cash give aways, prizes, contests, etc., and they still don't show.

As a recent grad, real recent, I never missed a game (neither did my friends), even though the season was in the shitter (see 2004-5, 2005-6, 2006-7, 2007-8). Maybe this is preaching to the choir, but I am embarrassed for the lack of pride the current student body at the University of Wyoming has. With their apathy and lack of spirit, they might as well go enroll at CSewe.

I totally agree with everything both of you are saying. I am a current student, and was at the game last night, and I honestly don't know why students aren't showing up, other then maybe the student fan base has just given up on this team which is ridiculous. I have been dissappointed with the student turnout at every game this year except for the CSU game where we actually had probably 3/4 of the student section full.

I go into class and ask people if they are going to the basketball game, and the most common answer I get is that they don't even know that we have a game that night (has happened regularly through the season). My best thought would be at a minimum for the University to send out a campus wide email about the day and time of the game, so at least all the lazy people who don't keep up with the schedule will know there is a game and consider coming.

Overall, thought I am very dissapointed in the student body and the lack of caring towards the basketball team. I bet there was only maybe 300 students there last night, and I know there are more then 300 students who like basketball, someone just needs to figure out how to put some school pride in the other students and get them to come to games.
