Serious?
I'd think it's more likely you got it from one of the ads that slipped through on these boards.
It's happened to me too, and it pisses me off... it's one of the reasons I ditched Winblows for good (and no, I'd never touch a Mac).

I've never had trouble w/ spyware on websites.. hmm.

Anyways, lol@BYU and their schedule.

Usually it spreads through flash ads... also, it seems that it's mostly Windows XP that is vulnerable to these types of things.

I support over 1600 systems all w/ XP, I have very few viruses come running through my network via flash. :) Weird anti-virus problems are usually the culprit. I have W7 w/ Windows Defender and Avast! running simultaneously.. virus free for ... I don't even know. XP is coming end of life though.. so it wouldn't surprise me if viruses for XP went up. Our biggest problems are users clicking on the "click here to scan your computer for viruses!"

I was just looking at the page and it started scanning my computer. now Every time I start firefox it opens a tab and asks if I want to run a full system scan :brick:

Well, that doesn't sound awful, at least. Find out what the program calls itself, and then Google how to remove it :)

Two Tone sorry I wouldn't intentionally give a virus to anyone, Well maybe to a Zoobie fan. Hey Two Tone do you know Gary Gale?

Flash had some really ugly zero day vulnerabilities about 2 months ago. They have patched it though. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere with a computer that isn't running the latest patched version of flash. I've went so far as to install flash block in firefox due to all these ad networks with unchecked flv's.

How many of you were using Firefox when you got Spyware or whatever it was? Because I'm using IE 8 (I think it's 8) and had no problems.

Hehe, not to burst your bubble, but IE's even more vulnerable, not to mention that I as a developer have a rabid hatred of that useless piece of crap software that can't adhere to simple standards like the other browsers do.

Haven't had issues with it though, and have been using it for about a year now. And having Norton helps too. :D

Didnt get rid of the facking thing. Still says
c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe . . . is infected!!

c:\windows\explorer.exe . . . is infected!!

I think you're getting false-positives.

Super Anti-Spyware, Malware Bytes.. use them. Use CCleaner as well.

If those don't kill it, go down to Pamida (or whatever the hell you have in Wheatland), pick up a copy of SpySweeper ($30 for 3 licenses), run it. It'll disappear shortly afterward. If you're rootkitted, SpySweeper will get it.
