Except BYU fans are so oblivious and full of themselves that they will probably interpret it this way...

Better yet...BYU undergrads have to serve opposing fans alcohol. And it is free. If there is ever an opposing fan with an empty beer, it is an Honor Code violation.

As much as I take pleasure in BYU fans getting smacked upside the head with the hand of reality, the larger issue here is that this is a mere symptom of the ongoing separation.
Previously, we were at least classified as FBS. I have no delusions that we were on the scale of an Alabama or even Texas Tech with funding and such, but we were in the same division.
The split is becoming increasingly more prominent.
I tell you, between our AD problems and being pushed out of the highest division of CFB, times are not great for WYO. Call me crazy, but I liked the idea of shooting for a BCS bowl. Obviously, we aren't even in that stratosphere, but I still liked having the opportunity.

If this split is going to happen, what we should do is muck with the national championship a bit.
1.) Put together our own method of deciding a national champion.
2.) Market it as 'College Football National Championship Game.'
At the same time, make sure our TV deals include internet streams for all games. These guys need TV revenue to make the break, so we shouldn't be supporting that. There are better methods of delivery. Download an FBS app to your smart phone/tablet. Watch the stream on the computer. Build in streaming apps to TV sets and gaming consoles.
We won't win it, but it doesn't mean we have to lose it.

What I hate is that the state schools from the states getting frozen out by this deal represent the states that get raked over the coals by the Easterners on the public lands and energy policy fronts. I hate to put a political spin on it, but it is the same attitude of condescending and contemptuous attitude that they direct toward us in the other areas where we interact.

In fact, their attitude is that if you don't have a certain amount of wealth, a certain amount of "royal lineage", a certain amount of popularity, etc. etc. you don't even deserve the chance to compete.
Just imagine them applying that to any other segment of society. Hypocrites.

Perfect time for Wyoming to schedule a 10 game series with them - alternating sites. Time to drop the ego, and make it happen. Wyoming football needs BYU as an opponent, and it wouldn't hurt to schedule them in hoops as well.

I really don't see how Wyoming "needs" BYU. We rarely recruit Utah, and even if we did, we have USU (along with a pretty cool and historically significant trophy) for Utah, and there are plenty of actual big name schools out there that we can schedule. Plus, I doubt BYU EVER comes back to Wyoming short of re-joining the MWC, and knowing their pride, that's not going to happen soon.Austin Nichols said:
