Oh stop it. There are a ton of Mormon Wyoming Cowboys fans and alumni. Lots of LDS people donate a lot of money to UW. Stop the bigotry. Learn to separate religion and football.

Okay, sadly with every post here, everyone it seems has forgotten that we have TCU in this league too. I think the MWC will be fine. Besides, why do we need Utah for The MTN to survive. Provo and SLC are not as big as Denver and Most all of Idaho, plus Fort Worth/ Dallas, San Diego, Las Vegas, The State of Wyoming, Colorado Springs, heck, even Albuquerque. There is still a massive draw to the MWC. Plus, add Nevada and we get the state of Nevada. Add Fresno and we get northern Cali, and maybe even Houston, for another big Texas city.
I definitely disagree with bringing in Montana. If they want to upgrade, let them join the Sun Belt or WAC and then work their way up like Boise did.

Isn't Fresno in Central Cali?

fuck byu and fuck the mormon church if they let them leave. (yes, the byu is owned by the mormon church and they need church permission to move). So I cna hate them both in it has nothin to do with bigotry. BYU is not like Notre Dame, Notre Dame can make independent decisions from the church. So can other religous schools like tcu, boston college, and smu. BYU is the devil.

So, here's my take on the situation. BYU is pi$$ed because they got left out of the Big 12/Pac10 loop and Utah got taken. Now they look like the the little brother asking "please sir may I have some more?" So they decide to go independent and try to protect themselves in the WAC for other sports with this potential buyout clause. Fine. I say see ya later and don't let the door hit you. No one likes dealing with your whiney butts (fans, players, administration, etc.) anyway.

But here's how I see it playing out. TCU has nowhere to go because the Big 12 doesn't want them - one more Texas school that adds nothing to the conversation and divides the pie more. So they're stuck with us... for now. If it's true that the WAC schools signed a buyout clause, we could go after those teams (Nevada, Fresno), but it's not likely that anyone can afford it. That leaves us with WYO, CSU, AF, TCU, NM, SDSU and UNLV, and Boise (I don't think they back out at this point). So we need to add at least one and probably two schools. My first two - and probably easiest - choices are Houston and SMU. Both are solid CUSA schools with decent football and basketball programs, and academics to fit the MWC. Let the WAC have BYU and when the clause is up steal Fresno and Nevada.

But here's what I'd really like to see. You know that OK, OK St, Kansas, and K State are not happy with the situation in the Big-12 lite. What would prevent us from picking up those schools and going to 12 teams? I know that the BCS question is still out there, but that lineup gives us a pretty solid case still. And OK gets to be the big fish in a small pond. Regionally it make some sense. And I know that Self doesn't like the idea of playing basketball in the MWC, but I think he'd get over it.

I think that lineup would seriously improve the conference and put us back at the BCS table (BTW, I'm convinced the BCS is driving this, trying to leave the MWC out of the picture). I know it's a longshot, but if Thompson can pull that off, I'll never complain about him again... or at least for a while.

Interesting to see where the dominos fall.

GO POKES!

No freaking kidding - wish LDS believed in that:

BYU serves a different purpose than other schools though. Reaching a BCS bowl game is one thing. The opportunity to spread the word about Mormonism trumps it.
“Automatic-qualifying status [helps], but the key is exposure,” BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe told the Salt Lake Tribune in July. “We [have to] be able to get it out and do the things that we can do with the things that we have here.
“It doesn’t do any good to have BYU-TV in your pocket. It doesn’t do any good in your pocket.”

Every LDS person who supports the church, goes to church, gives money to the church, or tries to spread the word of mormon indirectly or directly supports cougar atheletics. I suggest you pull your labia over head and go sit in the corner.

OU has publicly said they will stick with Texas, period. Ok State doesn't realize that there could be something else outside of OU and Texas, so they will blindly follow OU where ever they go. KU seems to want nothing to do with schools outside of the BCS. KSU, though, would be a good fit (personal relations aside).

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Mountain West Conference has extended invitations to Fresno State and Nevada.

The MWC announced Wednesday that it has offered the Bulldogs and Wolf Pack an opportunity to leave the Western Athletic Conference join the league that's losing Utah next season but gaining Boise State, another WAC school.

The article that gopokes was referencing.

Should UNR and Fresno accept, the WAC would essentially be dead. Maybe the remaining teams move back down to FCS where they belong. Though, should BYU wisen up a bit and stay on, plus those two, I think we need to look at adding Houston as well, just to balance it out.

Ha ha. Ok. For how much I donate to UW for scholarships, I can obviously see none went to you.

Stay classy, my friend.

I suggest you finish strong with that schooling. I know it may take 7-8 years, but you can do it.

Holy crap, the last 24 hours have been nuts.

I find BYU having a hand in the whole 5 million dollar fine if you leave in the next 5 years crap the WAC teams signed is despicable. Let them go indy, have a destroyed WAC to play all their other sports in, and never shedule those bastards again.

I'm fairly confident I have equal to more education to everyone on this board. Just cause I strongly disagree with your religion doesn't mean I care what you believe in. I promise you I lose no sleep on how retarded you are.

Easy. I know we are all a little stressed, but we are still family.
