Burman/Reeves Address Board of Trustees Regarding Athletics

The things Reeves is doing are the things Burman should have been doing over the past 20 + years. I saw Reeves had an online facebook post promoting the opening home game and an event before it. He also addressed the team. I don't think Burman has ever given one speech to any team. Reeves also says winning in non-negotiable. Burman starts excuses before the season even starts.

If he actually cares about athletics as much as he claims to, I have a feeling this is going to be a rough year for him.

I have a really bad feeling about our offense. While it seems almost unimaginable, I think our offense is going to be worse than last year. I'm not sure we have a single WR on our roster that would start at most FCS schools. Maybe Hughes can save the offense with his scrambling ability? I just don't think we are going to be able to pass the ball worth a shit.

Here's to hoping that once President Reeves see the shit show with his own eyes, we start cleaning house and start building towards the future. This feels almost like a wasted year with a President that knows what is coming but was put in place too late to make any changes.

Honest question because I really do not know. What makes you think our wide outs are so bad this year?

Things I've been hearing from people close to the program.

From what I understand, the passing game has looked very bad in fall camp. Receivers are getting zero separation and Hughes has been an interception machine.

Wouldn't surprise me. Save for Isaiah Neyor Wyoming really hasn't had FBS starting quality WR's since 2016. Not surprising given the complete lack of ability to scheme, recruit and develop talent for a passing game over the past 10 seasons. Below are the Passing Offense Rankings for Cowboy football for the past 10 seasons. Only once in those 10 seasons, in Josh Allen's first season as a starter (2016) did the Cowboys have a competent passing offense. WR's Tanner Gentry and Jake Mulhardt were exceptional. Throw in Jacob Hollister at TE and CJ Johnson at WR and Josh Allen had plenty of targets to throw to.

2025 - 109th of 134 teams
2024 - 98th
2023 - 118th of 133 teams
2022 - 125th of 131 teams
2021 - 118th of 130 teams
2020 - 113th of 128 teams
2019 - 122nd
2018 - 126th
2017 - 113th
2016 - 63rd

Given these pathetic passing yards per game rankings, what WR worth their salt would come to UW?

The only positive spin I can put on the offense struggling is that Wyoming defenses the last decade since Bohl took over are typically salty at stopping the run. We have a creative run-based scheme now and maybe we are struggling because our own d and coaches are just really good at stuffing the run including unusual run offenses like Air Force. Idk.

I'm not convinved that Shane sleeps. He's been Pres for less than 2 months and has been to Evanston, Riverton, Casper, Cheyenne Frontier Days (mulitple days), mulitple practices and speeches to athletic teams, a handful of radio interviews and helped students move in over the weekend. Dude has more energy than most 20 year olds.
