BSU negotiating behind the MWC's back.

It's strange to me that with the way this is going, there may not be but only one western conference by the end of this. The Eastern conferences are trying to take over. Seriously. PAC -12 stays together. Then you lose the WAC, the MWC is on the fritz and you may even lose the Big 12/10. Why the hell do all these schools think they need to head east?
It's really going to screw with them. Playing in different time zone everyother week. An 8 o'clock night game in Boise will be 11 at night for the east coast team. Expect play and jet lag to take effect. Cost of travel expenses. A noon game out in the east for Boise is what 9 a.m for them.
I'm just curious, why do all these western teams think they have to head east?

boise is mountain time so its a 2 hour diff

I personally believe this is all going to blow up big in the next few years. As far as I can tell, when the economy went to hell, people started watching more college football instead of going out and doing other things. This led the MBA's out there to realize holy hell, there is alot of cash sitting around. Lets try to build some super conferences and pay everyone 10 times the amount we were in 2006 because we are getting so many more eyes on TV sets and so much more ad revenue.

I'm probably wrong, but I do believe this is going to blow up big time - if/when the economy really heats up again. The incomes being promised will be unsustainable.

This sucks but I am guessing it is going to happen we need to start asking would we keep these schools in the MWC for the other sports? Are we interested in adding any new teams with the C-USA deal?

If all the defections happen that will leave 17 teams in the new C-USA & MWC

Wyoming
CSU
New Mexico
SDSU
UNLV
Nevada
Fresno State
Hawaii

Southern Mississippi
East Carolina
Marshall
Memphis
UAB
Tulsa
UTEP
Rice
Tulane

I actually like the eight in the MWC so I think it would be best if we just left it as is. But scheduling 5 Out of conference games per year makes things difficult and the unbalanced home & away schedule is not good for conference play either. Is it time to invite Utah State? Any other suggestions? I would take UTEP back to our side a good old rivalry there.

Utep, USU (blegh), and UTSA. A solid Texas presence is always good, and UTSA has more potential than most others. UTSA for recruiting and UTEP for old time rivalry.

I really like the idea of making the USU rivalry permanent again. I have to have a reason to dislike the state of Utah now that the other 2 have left.
