BSU @ MSU

I completely disagree it's a young team with a new offensive coordinator and tonight they showed something that haven't shown in 4 years and that is the inability to move the ball they are vulnerable against the run and they are not the BSU of the past 4 years.

Those games mean nothing both of them they won and both they scored more than they scored tonight. I'm sorry but are you saying that BSU is as good as Texas or better right now? Everyone talks about the Texas defense being one of the best in the nation this year.

I'm not taking anything away from MSU they have a bruising back and powerful offensive line they struggled tonight but Boises defense kept them in that game not the offense. Did you watch the same game I did? Take away that pick 6 is Boise kicked 2 field goals.

from the previous year they are going to struggle. I would expect wyoming to beat most teams with that much turnover. Boise State is beatable and have to travel to Laramie the weekend before Halloween. It ALWAYS snows over Halloween week and I like the pokes in a snowstorm.

That aside, we played Boise tough in Boise last year and we were competitive with their near BCS team. That team minus most of it's players loses last year in Boise. I won't guarantee a loss in Laramie for Boise but I would not be surprised by a win for the pokes. We are at home, have a better qb and I think this team is on a mission to prove something.

And take away Bell from MSU. Do they even score once?

I guess my point is....how does a 4-point loss at the #13 team in the nation in the debut game for many young players mean they'll lose to BYU, So. Miss, Wyoming, and Nevada? I think that's a little pessimistic. BYU and UNR maybe, but So. Miss lost their HC and starting QB and Wyoming has its issues too (The Temple game did happen, wasn't just a bad dream).

Lucky for us, it college football season. Time to put it on the field....

The teams you named off I didn't, What I said was this BSU team is vulnerable and they are not the same BSU we have seen over the past 4 years if this teams performance tonight was in indicator of what BSU is going to do this year they could easily lose 5 games and they most definitely are not heads above the rest of the MWC.

Are they capable of winning sure any team is capable of winning but they are most definitely not the powerhouse that is going to put up 30+ points every game all season long at least not after tonight.

So let me this straight: BSU was straight up awful on offense tonight, but Brett Smith's 77 yard passing performance in Boise is considered "playing tough"???

I am not in anyway saying BSU is a powerhouse or even a Top-25 team this year. What I am saying is losing in East Lansing (possible Rose Bowl team) with a very young squad by only 4 points now means BSU is doomed the rest if the way? They won't improve at all? Coach Petersen is one overrated coach if so.

I saw a good defense from Boise State but their offense wasn't good at all. I see a very beatable team and we'll see how improved our squad is from last year but from all reports we seem to be improved. Don't anoint Boise state based off previous years, this is not the same team that won all those games.

If you remember that game the score at half time was going to be 7-7 going into halftime and the worlds luckiest hale mary worked in their favor to give them the 14-7 lead. They did out man us in the second half but we were very competitive in that game for a large portion of the game. I think my point is that they don't have that kind of depth this year and are not the same team they were last year. They are down this year and we should be improved and we have them at home.

And I guess that's where the hold up is. We'll have to see tomorrow. If UW loses by 14 points or less tomorrow, BSU will have their hands full come October. If not, I have a hard time seeing it.

See now you are just arguing with multiple people at the same time, We played Boise tough in like the first half then fell completely apart in Boise imo and I don't think we played tough. I think the Wyoming that played against TCU at the War could beat the Boise we saw tonight.

That is really all I mean is you have to take the great games and the bad games in stride. I'm not saying Boise is doomed by any means. Just saying that if they have more games like this they are most certainly in trouble and this team will not run the MWC.

Then I guess we're arguing about nothing.

Time will reveal more. I can say this: If BSU looks this bad offensively against BYU (Sep. 20) then I think BSU is in big trouble. However.....if they hang 40+ on BYU, I think they dominate the MW.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hate that we are using BYU as the comparison now I feel dirty but agree none the less.

I hear ya. I have no dog in the fight and I felt like crap after BYU's win. Hate to say it, but their defense was top notch.

Speaking of BYU, if Wyoming goes to the Poinsettia Bowl, that's who they'll play. Don't think UW returns to Albuquerque, and BSU goes to Vegas no matter what (all about fan travel), that would pit UW against the Mormons.

You know...assuming BYU doesn't **shudder** make it to a BCS bowl game. :brick:
