Coeur d' Alene Why would you want to play UCLA when you could play against Fresno state or San Jose right? [/quote said:
Why would you want to play SDSU and UNLV and New Mexico when you can play Oregon State and Washington State. See you can pick random teams from both conferences that are good and bad. Depending on the year the MW is a better conference in Basketball than the PAC some years the PAC is better. SO it isn't an obvious choice. This isn't football.

That being said, good luck to the kid. Wish him well. And if things don't pan out down there then Im sure our coaches would be willing to except a transfer at some point in the future.

On to the next guy.

Colorado averaged 9,000 fans per game

Wyoming 6,000

Nance was the first Wyoming cowboy drafted since Theo in 1995.

i think Wyoming has a much better basketball history than Colorado but does a kid from Southern California care about the last 50 years or the last 5? Does a kid who isn't being a Wyoming homer anywhere think that Wyoming is higher profile than CU.

The PAC is always better than the MWC. Not sometimes this way and sometimes that. San Diego has had a good bball program for what 5 years? Yeah CU plays in a "barn" but so does csu and cu put more butts in the seats last year than csu or Wyoming.

I'll stop with this, because I don't want to be looked at as negative here, I just want to talk wyo basketball, and I don't think there's a chance of convincing you guys that the PAC 12 is miles ahead of the MWC or that Wyoming isn't quite as "high profile" as you think. There was 65 teams in the ncaa tourney last year. Prob a lot of them hadn't been there for 10-15 years.

Gonzaga did it for several years by beating the teams they played and recruiting against them. Now they have done it for so long that they recruit anyone anywhere and play big time non conference schedules. Wyoming could only hope to be at the beginning of that process. Not halfway through and expecting to beat out PAC 12 teams in recruiting

Want to make a difference? Let's figure out how to average more that 6k fans first (and that was a special team last year)

Are you Scavenger from the GoWyoGo board? If so, you kind of disappeared after the Wyoming CU game last year.

Good for CU averaging more than Wyoming last year. With weekday games, it is much harder to draw 6,300 from a town of 30,000, than 9,300 from a metro area of close to 3 million. But, again, that is a good job by CU. Overall, the attendance between the MWC and PAC12 is about even.

And just because Nance is the only player drafted since 1995, doesn't mean we haven't had players in the league since then. Wyoming just puts more players in the NBA.

It is too bad CU quit playing us.....easy win every year. This can't be denied.

Go Pokes!!

Not a CU fan at all. I do live in PAC12 country and see a lot of it so maybe? I am over rating the conference, but I think there's a better chance that this board is under rating the PAC and overrating the MWC and wyomings national image.

Are you talking about some josh Davis 10 day contracts? I know I said I was done but these statement keep getting crazier and crazier. So even the un drafted guys? Who are the guys Wyoming has been putting into the league?

I hate the Colorado schools, have never been on a wyo message board, and have followed UW closely for a long time, been to hundreds of games but still can't figure out how to become delusional and fit in here. I guess it's a waste of time anyway but I'm going to keep reading for a while to see if it's just the time of year and maybe during the season there might be more rational conversations than this pac12/MWC thing

Here's my attempt at miles ahead explanation. Top to bottom in each and every way you can group them the PAC is clearly superior to the MWC

Top programs historically: UCLA and Arizona or New Mexico and Unlv. Is that close

Hot team right now how do you think sdsu and cal compare this season? How about the last 20 years?

How Does Wyoming, Boise, Utah st, Nevada stack up against Oregon, Stanford, Wadhington, asu ?

Wait do you think San Jose state, or Air Force are anything close to wazzu Oregon state or even CU?

Utah would be the overwhelming favorite to win the MW this season. So would Arizona, UCLA, Cal, and prob Oregon.

In my honest assessment, if any of those teams were in the MWC, I think Arizona is the only team that would be a clear favorite. UCLA, Cal, and Oregon have done well the last few years, just like the top 5 in the MWC, but haven't been a dominating force in College hoops. I can't 100% say any team, but maybe AZ, would travel to Laramie in February and would walk out unscathed more times than not. And are you really implying that CU is better than the lower tiered teams in the MWC? I believe, in a conference format (1 and 1) AF would split with CU (home team wins).

I guess my take is that on paper AZ is the best team in the two conferences. Luckily, the games aren't played on paper and think head to head, the MWC would do very well against the PAC12. I don't see them being nearly as superior to us as you do. And this isnt homerism on my part. I like College Hoops. I watch far more college hoops than I do college football. Hell you say Cal is so far superior to us yet they struggled to beat us, at home, on a night where we couldnt hit water if we fell out of a boat....I certainly was not impressed with them last year. It is definitely a new season, but I am expecting win for the Brown and Gold when we rematch this season.

But to answer your questions:
Historically UCLA and AZ have been better than anyone in the MWC. Thats not to say the current UCLA or AZ teams are in the same category as those teams.

8 times out of 10, SDSU beats Cal. Cal is not this dominating force you claim them to be. They are mid tier at best. That comment doesn't really strengthen your argument....

Wyoming, BSU, USU, and Nevada stack up VERY well because they all play stingy defense. Have you ever watched a Shyatt coached team?

If I agree with you about anything, it SJSU. They hurt our conference, A LOT. But I don't think AF is a shitty team. They will win games and would beat a handful of the P12 teams. They certainly would not come in last place in that division.

We couldn't commit to him, why would he commit to us?
Huh? We have had an offer to Bryce for couple of years. This staff has been completely committed to him. Offer was still there for the taking if he wanted it. The parents had cold feet after the UW visit when Bryce was ready to commit. Now he found something he thinks is better so he loses out on playing for the best coach in the region.

What were we going to tell him if nobody left the program in the next two months?

Didn't matter what happened in next two months. Scholarships aren't guaranteed to carry over for current players. They are renewed. So we could have over signed and waited for attrition or not renew a scholly. Jason Mac could have been put on Hathaway also. All peters had to do was say yes. The staff is out trying for a Hunte commitment as we speak.
